I could do feeder mice, just not rats.

Seems relatively easy and painless, actually—although I would never have it in me to kill a rat this way (assuming it's possible).

Never tried it. I don't really know how you would avoid being bitten.

That's the most humane way with normal household tools. I had a bad experience with it as well but I'm 99% sure it's because my concentration wasn't high enough. There's also gassing with something like isoflurane first (less distressing than CO2 alone), cervical dislocation, decapitation...

You gas them, usually with CO2. There are other ways but that is the most humane.

Their big old eyes and tiny little feet are ridiculously cute. Some of the newer morphs are drop dead gorgeous, although I'm a sucker for darker colours in general. I'd agree that they're more sensitive. They are calmer but also more timid. They tend to "cling" to your hand when a leo might try...

Thankfully they were both relatively healthy (underweight and...

Funny enough, Finn (leo) has always preferred the cool side of the tank. She almost never goes to the warm side except to eat. She spends days in her cool hide doing nothing... yes, I've had her checked by a vet, and yes, I've thought she was dead many many times lol. Of course it's...

It's been a while. They're pretty similar but if I remember correctly, Leos are kept slightly hotter and AFTs require higher humidity.

Thank you! Jake (the AFT) died some 6 years ago so naturally I assumed Finn wasn't far behind. Oh how wrong I was. 🤯

Yep, I used to have an African fat-tailed gecko. She was being housed with my leopard gecko and I ultimately decided to keep them together, albeit with some major husbandry changes. This is never recommended but rules sometimes go out the window with rescues. Anyway, I really enjoyed her. She...
