    Peeps in Europe!

Schools closed here too till after Easter vacation. All events with over 100 people canceled, movie theater closed, all out of school afternoon activities canceled also. And yes people are going crazy buying all the food from stores. At least I’ll always have enough eggs

    Peeps in Europe!

On no I’m so sorry. I’m glad you said this because I was thinking about making a little fish pond in my yard. But now I’m not. My chickens free range and I hate for one to fall in and drown.

    Peeps in Europe!

I started out just wanting silkies. But I could only find eggs, chicks, or pullets with a rooster. So I got 4 chicks, 3 ended up being roosters. They all got along so I kept them all and starting buying pullets of other breeds I could find to keep the roosters happy. Most of my hens go broody...

    Peeps in Europe!

Thanks for the info. But I’m no longer hatching eggs or getting chicks. I always end up with roosters then grow attached and can’t get rid of them.

    Peeps in Europe!

I’m in lower Austria. Yes I’ve checked online and I go to all local chicken shows from the small animal associations. But no one has them or is willing to sell any. The farmer I got mine from is not selling any. He said they just don’t breed as much as his other breeds. But I’m not giving up...

    Peeps in Europe!

I have admit I don’t watch or listen to local news. I hear usually from other locals if something big is happening. So I thought someone would of said some big storm was blowing through Europe. I watch american news, still watch the today show the day after on the NBC app. Makes me feel like...

    Peeps in Europe!

Also I forgot to mention I’m not able to give any of mine away. I’m pretty sure my flock has some strain of mareks and respiratory illness. I’ve had some chickens get sick and some die. After lots of research and advise here on backyard chickens. I can only guess but pretty sure they have...

    Peeps in Europe!

I plan on keeping them all. They are all fully mature and get along. 2 of them just keep their distance from the main guy. And in the coop I have an old rabbit hutch they sleep in and the main guy sleeps on the roost. We just had some snow and they all stay in the coop all day and night and I...

    Peeps in Europe!

Not sure I should I ask but I’m going to. How do you kill them? I’m not hatching eggs or getting chicks anymore because I ended up with 3 roosters. So far they get along but the main guy can be a bully to my other 2. So just curious if it came to that how you do it. I just love all my...

I’m going to have to look into this hemp bedding. What breeds of chickens does everyone have? Most of mine lay all winter less but still lay, and just yesterday 1 went broody.

I was thinking the same thing. I’ve been in Austria for 10 plus and I still get lost with all the different accents here and reading and writing I’m horrible. I use a translator to help my son with his German homework still.

    Peeps in Europe!

i went to a chicken show where a lady had show silkies and she was selling 1 hen for around 100-200 euros. Then I wanted to buy a bantam Cochin and this guy wanted 150 For 1. I said no thank you. But yes they can be expensive for certain breeds and people who breed show chickens.

    Peeps in Europe!

I wanted different breeds so I bought all my chickens from different places. 1 hatched from an egg. So some were vaccinated when I got them but others were not, and the one I hatched was not. I wanted to vaccinate but could not find any info where to go about getting the vaccinations. Most vets...

    Peeps in Europe!

No I don’t think you have to have them vaccinated. I just always wondered if mine were vaccinated if they still would of gotten sick. I think 1 died from Mareks by her symptoms and some others seem to get colds on and off. I don’t even know if there is something for respiratory problems but I...

    Peeps in Europe!

Funny you say that about them not using the internet, because I always have to search for these chicken shows they have. It’s never online and no website. Makes sense they probably don’t use the internet. I’m always looking for signs hanging around because that’s how they advertise thier...

I do use garlic and acv but never thought to soak the garlic in acv, great idea. Also I never heard to use Vick vapo. The vet rx smells a lot of Vick’s. I’ve attached some pictures of the vet rx
