My pair of black homers had these two squabs. Can someone explain why the one is reddish brown? They have had dozens of other squabs now and all the others were black and some had a little white. One other was also noticably odd too though and had a lot of brown. Here is that one. Someone said...

So I had this pair of pigeons last winter lay a clutch of 4 eggs and I asked on here and we decided it must have been another pair that I had who was starting to nest near them that laid the eggs in the wrong nest. Well none of those eggs ever hatched after a bad cold snap. Fast forward to this...

I had another hawk try to grab one today. This one was very dark colored and bigger. It did not get any but almost had one of my black homers. It was able to catch up to it but as it was about to grab it the pigeon flipped upside down with its feet facing the hawks talons. They didn't touch but...

Yeah in the open sky I dont think any falcon or hawk can fly faster or even close to a racing pigeon at top speed. Unless they are diving on them. I was wondering because last year I had 2 pigeons out for several days that couldnt find their way back into the loft and a similar looking hawk or...

Unrelated to the picture but I had some weird tiny hawk chase down one of my white homer pigeons yesterday. I let them out of the loft and the white homer came out first and did a few laps around the property alone. Then as it was coming in for a landing and fluttering slowly to a branch in my...

Yeah there is no way a red tailed hawk would be chasing one down or grabbing one from the air. This one definitely didn't see it coming till it was right about to grab it. I dont think it would be able to escape after the attack because where it was in the forest, after it got grabbed in a much...

This pair of pigeons was sitting on two of their own eggs the last time I checked. I didn't shut the door fully a few days ago and some of my chickens and muscovy ducks got into the loft, I guess one of the chicken hens laid an egg in their nest and crushed both of their actual eggs in the...

It's a racing homer from a good blood line but it was sitting alone in a tree a couple hundred feet from the coop after doing a few laps around the place, probably didn't even see the hawk coming.

A hawk tried to grab one of my pigeons today while it was sitting in a tree. I was outside and heard my geese freaking out so went over and there was 2 red tailed hawks after it. I saw feathers floating everywhere and was looking around for the bird. It was sitting 15 feet up in a cedar so i...

I'm not sure what I should do with her if she keeps sitting, there is no eggs or anything and her mate is not interested in sitting on the empty nest when she is off.

Yes I was tempted to give her them but I didnt know if she would actually sit on them through the night, I have no idea why she laid them in the wrong nest but she seems to be sitting on her empty nest all day now

I candled the eggs of my other pairs sitting and one had both duds so I gave them 2 of the eggs from this hen. The Birmingham roller hen is sitting on a nest with no eggs near the homers nest so I think the idea that she laid both hers in this one's nest is probably correct.

I'm not certain that a second hen did not contribute the 3rd and 4th egg, maybe I'll wait and see if a 5th shows up. Or see what the squabs look like. I am certain though that this hen is paired up with a male and is not a lesbian pair. There is only one other pair thats not sitting on eggs...

Anyone have a pigeon lay this many eggs in one clutch before? Last time this hen only laid and hatched 1 eggs and the baby died randomly when it was 2 weeks old. They were determined to sit on it even though it died but I removed it. The hen then laid another egg a week later in the same nest...

I found someone selling some Arabian trumpeter pigeons and they sent me this picture of the birds. I am going to get 4 or 5 from them and hope for 2 pairs. I heard with rollers some birds can be sexed with what patterns and colors they are showing does anyone know if any of the birds in this...
