So guys I've been sewing for 20 years and just found out I've been using a seam ripper wrong all this time. Apparently the little red ball on the seam ripper has a use. It's a fabric protector. Whereas I would go and just individually pick out seams until the fabric separated apparently you...
My dad once had wallpaper put in our house when I was younger. He asked the installer if he made any mistakes. The installer said definitely. My father asked to see them and the installer said "you're gonna have to find them". My father never did find them.
Point being, you know your...
That tells me your tension is off somewhere. It can be frustrating when your machine isn't working properly especially when it feels like you've done everything. At any rate I'd you're free motion the feed dogs aren't an issue. I'd suspect bobbin tension
Is the bobbin thread breaking or is it just not stitching at all? The tension on the bobbin might be the issue but concerning the problem with your feed dogs I'd imagine the thread is breaking.
Edit I had this problem myself and it turned out to be the needle
We use it at my work to cut vinyl for t-shirts but thats about it. It works great for that but you have to have the right vinyl otherwise it comes off in the wash.
I'll have to see just how reliable it is. These are just 12x12 pieces of fabric with polyfil batting inbetween. I still dont have any word on my bobbin plate so they're going to sit basted that way until it comes in. If the baste falls apart I'll know for sure but it's not on something I care...
I got a new machine at goodwill for 14 bucks that takes snap on feet and is low shank! Snagged it 2 months ago but I havent been able to work much on it because it doesnt have a cover plate for the bobbin. I ordered a foot kit and the cover plate but the cover plate has still yet to arrive...
Just finished a motorcycle quilt for a client:
I forgot to take a pic of the back and it's in the wash right now so I can post that later. I did a polyester backing to make it look like the inside of a motorcycle jacket. I'm almost tempted to keep it because of how cool it came out!
My first tshirt quilt went great. Even got an order for another one. No fleece this time (thank goodness!). I was thinking of doing something nonlinear because he doesnt have very many shirts but he wants it 72 x 72. Im going to have to throw together a pattern. Luckily he's in no rush. I...
Just did a few rows with the machine on 8. It was even better. Thanks for the advice! Im the only quilter in my family so I taught myself. Still learning new things every day;)
I have it set to 6. Ill try switching it to 8. The pressure is set at 3. I havent had a problem with bunching since I added more pins...thank goodness!
