4 looks like he might have color leakage, is that the case or is it just the picture? If true, cull him. Does 1 have side sprigs, or are they just two small points on the end of the comb? It's hard to assess him with him perched like that. Is his tail set actually that low, almost horizontal? I...
The trouble is, males show leakage and hens don't. He'll pass on his leakage to his offspring, so even if the females aren't showing it they could still be carrying it, and it will pop up again down the line. It's very hard to breed out once you breed it in.
He's still pretty :) He just...
Looks like he has a lot of leakage. Despite his skin being solid black, a rooster with leakage should not be bred. It's important that all the feathers be black too.
I haven't found them to be any more fragile than other breeds. I use my heat plate brooder for them and they do fine. What were their symptoms before dying? Perhaps they had infected yolk sacs?
Hello! Usually I sell them at $15 an egg. Most of mine are molting now and aren't laying, but if you're interested send me a pm and we'll work something out :)
That's odd, then. I know she sold off her AC flock years ago (that's what she told me when I asked to buy some from her years ago, at least) so he must have had his for years now. Maybe he bred away from the type of my rooster and towards the type of the one you have. Or maybe he has multiple...
But did he get his birds directly from Tonie Marie? Tonie Marie liquidated her AC flock years ago so unless he's had his birds for years (four or five) then it's unlikely. That's what you have to think about. If he didn't and got his birds from a dishonest breeder then he's just saying what he...
The girl you have from my eggs is actually half TMA half GFF or possibly pure TMA. The rooster I just posted was her father :) So you have some TMA blood in your flock.
I wanted to add again, I actually had a real TMA rooster that was directly from her (or rather, I got him from a very honest person that got him directly from her). His type was much different than your rooster's, @uzisuzuki. Here's my boy:
So I really think you are dealing with a dishonest...
Tonie Marie had purebred cemanis, so those that are actually from her lines are pure. She did not try to scam anyone with her birds. The breeder you got yours from may not be so honest.
What comes to mind is that they may have mixed in the Mike Bean/ Smithsonian line of "ayam cemani" that are...
Where did you get her again? I can't remember. I know as a chick she had some white. If I remember correctly where you got her from was very unlikely to have ACs. I think you said Tractor Supply? I'd say sumatra but sumatras have pea combs, I think. Maybe a mix or a hatchery has picked up...
