LOL, glad I did. I've been thinking of a way to get live, fresh and green foods to the birds in all the individual brood pens for a while. I thought just growing in a small protected wire section in the pen, or from the outside of the pen, would be great. I have some that just happened like...
I've been thinking about that too. If I lived somewhere tropical I thought Moringa would be nice because of its nutritive properties. But here I'm guessing I need to try some berry. You could surround the bush in wire so that the birds get the benefit without killing the plant.
Out here, scratch and layer pellets are the same price, ironically. The layer pellets is much better. I also use pigeon feed and a feed called Rooster Booster which is like a premium scratch with catfish food and some other pellets. I mix it all together. Scratch is not what I would recommend...
It's not a bad idea to have them together for warmth, but I don't believe they need it. Chickens can cope with cold weather well, if fed and watered good, and have a place to get out of the wet and wind. But, some will come down to it, not the ones I want to breed form, though, (unless overly...
I appreciate your contribution to the topic of natural immunity and health, centrarchid. It's one with not enough emphasis or followers behind it. When I was on the outside (still am to a large degree) I would read about how hardy and healthy all these gamefowl are, and I mean, they are, don't...
I find that many breeders are too intelligent (there doesn't exist such a thing, however!), that, and especially when dealing with such valuable breeding projects, leads to preventative treatment; but that is not the best approach to getting naturally healthy chickens in the end. When I, and...
Problem is, that those will be used as evidence of "cockfighting activity" if found in the same vicinity where cocks are kept. *ugh* Like they can't be used for anything else.
Ko Shamo are NOT really gamefowl, and they certainly aren't game - meaning that they will not likely fight to the death (doesn't mean one dominant won't kill another). Once mature, it'll be easier to introduce a pair together, but that's it, nothing else will get easier. If you want them all in...
Yup, food, space, and the trick I use, keeping a dominant cock out that breaks up all the fights. Here's my experience, some birds, close quarters, just forget about it, it's not happening. But out side in freedom, they will all be found under the same bush preening. (they still don't get along...

Don't think you will get any height on your chickens by adding oriental blood .... all of the crosses i've seen are about the same as American Games (sometimes just a little shorter) .
If you want height go with some of the birds that are "selective bred" for the phillipines...
