35 here. Basil, beans, and peppers are saying no frost, but it was close. Most of my frost sensitive plants are in the greenhouses, but not the beans, herbs, or overflow peppers.
I wouldn't go that far. Maybe +30f. My perfect temp is 65-70, unless I want to kayak. Then 75-80 is ok. Once I get home and dry, 65-70 is perfect again.
Only time my dad ever slapped me was for repeating a string of words he had just used while trying to fix the tractor. At 5 years old, the only thing that comes to mind when you hear the word 'sucker' mixed with a bunch of other words is candy. He said you "blankity blank blank" so I said "Yeah...
And that, my friend, is why I want to be a hermit. Ugh!
At least they have employees. Around here, even Holiday gas station isn't opening until 9am and then closing at 9pm because people don't want to work and they can't find employees. My feed store just had to go back to winter hours due to...
We could use some of that rain. Extreme fire danger and red flag warnings. Ground is so dry the electric fence isn't snapping and popping like normal. The bears are out, so I really want that puppy to snap.
Some battle axe at one of those informational stops between Duluth and Grand Marias tried to tell us lupine was invasive in MN, and should be removed. Even had it on her little poster. I was going to make some comment about the Forest Service and DNR releasing one pest to combat another pest...
Trade you rain for snow. Ground thawed enough for the electric fence so I've been opening the coop in the morning so they can roam their pasture area. Most mornings they are complaining at 6:30 wanting out. Today, they're standing in the doorway complaining that there's half an inch of white...
I wish! I just got 6 POL that are currently in quarantine, hatched 13 chicks on Sat, have 24 more eggs in the incubator, and 18 adults in the coop. Just priced the materials to build a new coop. I better stop now.
That sounds like the start of a joke.
We got some much needed rain. Now that it's good and wet, the next rain should make for good nightcrawler picking.
Two of the small lakes near me were open yesterday and one probably went last night. Bigger ones should go within the week.
Loons would need ice skates here. Ducks and geese are finding some patches of open water in small ponds and streams. A week of rain should help open things up. Rain, blessed rain. Been scary crunchy here this last week.
So far today seems a little better. Walked the property yesterday to see what came down, and of that, what will make good firewood. Glad I have 24 new red pines to plant and a good chainsaw. Sigh... it just never ends.
