I checked my coop and there isn't a way for anything to get in, so we're good there! As for the orpington, all separate her tomorrow if there is still an issue. I put Blu kote on the 2 chicks, so the wounds should heal quickly and are less noticeable.
I checked on my 8 week old chicks this evening and all of the sudden 2 of them have raw backs and feathers everywhere! I stood there to try and see if I could figure out what was going on, and my blue orpington went around and was pecking them! I just moved them to the coop 2 days ago. They have...

We're moving into a new house! WooHoo! It is on an acre and backs up to a creek and has a nice BIG chicken coop under a big, beautiful tree. It is dreamy...... so when the sellers of the house asked me If I wanted to keep their current flock, I said.....NO..... and here are my reasons for it...
🐥🐣🥚!HELLO MY FEATHERY FRIENDS!🥚🐣🐥
I Have been searching through the main hatcheries for chicks. I want a good mix of heardy layers and ornamental birds, colored egg layers. Who do you like to purchase from?
I am Amy and I live in Utah, I've raised back yard chickens so often, have helped...
It's looking a little ROOish to me....I agree, if you can post a couple other pics from the side as well? The flash kind of drowns out the back feathers, looks like the saddle feathers might be a bit thinner and pointy? But really hard to see just from that....
I really loved my black Australorps. They was great layers, large, light brown eggs. Healthy build and beautiful feathers. They were not as "friendly" as other breeds when it came to a small back yard flock, as in they didn't like to be held or touched as much as the other breeds. Overall, great...

Oh my gosh! Skydancer28, THANK YOU! What a GREAT post! I have a lot of research to do still, but now I feel like I can and will be educated before purchasing my first rabbits...
Thanks again!
Hi Ya'll!
My husband and I are moving on from chickens (ok...not moving on, just adding onto!) and are talking about rabbits!
We know that rabbit meat is great meat to eat, has great nutritional value, and is more easily digested than some other meats. We are still in the beginning phases of...
Easter Eggers from feed stores can lay a few different colors, even basic brown. Most likely it will be any shade of green, blue or even pink. It's always a gamble from the chicks you get from a feed store, unless you get chicks directly from breeders who can prove the colors of the eggs that...
