Those are white eggs, Amazon is where I got them , and the nest boxes are only about 8 inches off the floor, never needed a perch. Been raising chickens 13 years, all have always been well. First year in 13 years Imstarting out fresh again. I haVe always had chickens go broody, put fertile eggs...
I have Austra whites, and I believe leg horns ,also jersey giants etc. all around the same age of around 11/12 weeks. I know jersey giants lay later, but I’m wondering about California whites or Austra whites, there part leghorn right ? so I, assuming they lay by 4 months?
Well, since I was on last I have gotten the wireless camera up, and I'm so pleased! I can see who is laying and when, and I can see the at night ! The camera is called Vimtag, and I can watch my chickens from anywhere through a smart phone or my iPad. It's been awesome !
Man that sounds awesome, I just need to do this also ! I'm looking for leghorns, they are the best layers ever for us ! I just might go looking today for an incubator, great idea!
I found a wonderful cam, it is so clear , we love seeing the chickens and who is or is not laying. Heck we found an off white egg and would never know who laid it if we had not seen it laid lol and the night time pictures are just as clear ! . Vimtag is the name of the camera.
I know there are plenty of posts on cameras but they are old and the links are outdated or no longer available. I ordered a web cam and it broke right away, I need a good cam to see my chickens , one that tilts and pans so I can see who is laying what. It's so cold I hate to keep running out...
I restarted my flock, and want to add leghorns to my flock as I love there laying abilities. Is there anyone close to Butte that may have some for sale? Looking for ones under 6 months of age please.
Has anyone ordered bigger birds, if so where and how did they do ? I'm looking to add a few leghorns to my flock, love there egg laying abilities but it's winter and no one around has any. I have pullets I found several towns over recently and there young, maybe 3/4 months old. I want to add...
thanks hon, only one hatched and the Brodie's killed it. We were so extremely sad. I found a gal who has 3 month olds, I'm going to introduce them into the flock slowly, will try chicks next year in the spring. Thanks :) oh and I love that picture in your profile, that's an amazing looking animal!
This spring we also fenced in the coop and pen, so they have an outside area to play in also. This is a pic as it was getting done. Also the spring sand loaded into the pen. A life safer ! It keeps them dry and comfortable in winter ( pen is covered ) and cool in summer. And keeps any smells...
that is real nice ! Your going to love the slanted roof, and the pen, if you put a roof on it, ( we did ours slanted ) you can cover it in winter like we do . It keeps the chickens much warmer, and the coop warmer as no snow or wind or cold enters the pop door. We also put a huge layer of sand...
