Has anyone tried dry incubation and does it work well? And a sexlink breeding question.

Is 30 percent humidity like the minimum ambient humidity? And does the temp have to be different with dry hatching?

    5 weekers: boys or girls?

I would say 1 is a male, it is hard to say with 3 and 4, but 2 looks like a pullet.

    Never the same after molting

You know, what's really funny is that a lot of chickens continue to have watery poo even while they are laying. I had a welsummer hen named Puddles, and she always had "the runs". I have three sapphire gems (they are my favorite breed of all time) and they tend to have rough molts. I think she...

    Integration using wire dog crate

Hello! This is the exact method I use every time to integrate my chickens, and it works very well. In my experience, none of my chickens have got their heads/necks caught in the crate. Does your crate come with a black plastic tray that slides in for the bottom?

    Meet my first flock!

Thank you so much❤️ Agnes would be very happy to hear that. When you make a "kissy" sound she comes zooming up to you to see if you have treats.

    Chickens and plants...

My chickies eat pretty much anything in the garden except for a few things, one of those being herbs. I saw online that chickens are supposed to love herbs but mine just avoid them. I worry more that mine will dig out the plants rather than eat them😅 They also seem to completely avoid plants...

I need your insight on how many chickens to put in my coop!

Yes...Several. They handle it well, although they have gotten frostbite several times (mostly my roos.) Their coops are insulated and stay a few degrees warmer than outside. We do a deep litter method in the winter so that the extra bedding keeps the coop warmer. They are all cold hardy breeds...

Help.!!!!! Cat knocked over my incubator. Egg badly cracked. What should i do? It is still alive after an hour.

I was just asking because I dropped a chick last year that was still in it's egg (it had a few more days to go until hatching time) and it fell from like 3-4 feet high (I was so mad at myself) and it ended up dying, but that's because it probably really hurt itself from the hard impact when it...

How do your chickens show affection to you?

Sometimes when I'm crouching down minding my own business watching the chickens, my black Australorp named Phyllis likes scraping her beak on my back, it really hurts 😅 She does the same thing that @Tulipmasteer talked about their hen doing. She also likes running her beak through my hair and...

    Fertile Eggs?

I can't really tell in the pics, but you'll know when you'll see one, the embryo has veins coming out of it giving it a spider appearance.

Oh wow! But do you think I could put 2 standard sized chickens and 2 bantams in there?? Does one standard sized count as like 2 bantams?

I need your insight on how many chickens to put in my coop!

this is the big coop's run That's their coop. Please ignore the mess 😅 This is the small chicken tractor. Also ignore the pool from my duck that's filled with rain water. Here's their coop. Here's the inside of the coop, there are 2 roosting bars and 4 nesting boxes.
