    Saxony Breed Standard

I am hoping to acquire some show quality saxony hatching eggs. I am trying to understand the standard of perfection. First off, if anyone has any resources to point me towards please do. Secondly, I am unclear if the smaller or larger chest is closer to breed standard. Pictures from two flocks...

    Help understanding guidelines

Annoying. They can free range in my yard but I can’t build a safe run for them?!

    Help understanding guidelines

I was planning to build a duck run on the side of my house. No coop just wire run for when we can’t have them free range in the yard. Regulation says: They state: Cages/coops must be: Located at least 12 feet from the nearest portion of any residence, dwelling, hotel, apartment house or...

    My first DIY incubator

It does take longer than I would like to get back to temp after turning. Planning to put automatic turners in it but they wouldn’t work for the goose eggs anyway. Besides opening for turning 3 times a day it maintains temp perfectly. I’m using a fan heating unit I bought on Amazon so it...

    My first DIY incubator

Came across this wine fridge at Habitat for Humanity and turned it into an incubator. I had gotten a bunch of goose eggs at auction on Saturday so I was in a hurry to get them in. Still planning on building trays for them but pretty convenient they fit in the wine racks!

    BEST duck food

I want to hear what everyone thinks is the BEST duck food for ducklings and adults, no expense spared. Also ok if what you think is the best is a non duck specific feed with supplementation.

    New ducklings not doing well

I ordered them from metzer farm with the starter feed from metzer farm. They have eaten some. They are just much more lethargic than our first two were when we got them from the store. Maybe it was just a hard trip and they need rest?

    New ducklings not doing well

They are moving around some now too. Ok thank you. Our older duckling never did that so I panicked but she was probably a couple days older when we got her from tractor supply.

    New ducklings not doing well

Picked up two babies from the post office this morning. They keep laying with their heads down. They have had water and electrolyte water. What else can I do? I really don’t want to lose either. We got two chicks last week and lost one and got these two to replace the lose and be companions for...

    Separating ducklings of different age

Thank you! That is very reassuring. I was concerned because she did bully her first companion before she passed but hopefully she is just excited for her new friends!

    Separating ducklings of different age

We got two ducklings last Thursday but sadly one failed to thrive and died the next day. I immediately ordered 2 ducklings so our remaining duckling wouldn’t be alone. They hatched yesterday and will arrive tomorrow. I have put this divider into the brooder for their arrival as our remaining...

    Duck pool depth advice

Hi - we just got ducklings and planning their outside run. I am planning to get a stock tank as a pool for them but can’t decide between 1’ or 2’ depth. Pro for the 2 foot: I want them to be able to dive under and submerge Pro for the 1 foot: Less water waste and easier entry We have Swedish...
