    Duck injured leg

I do, in fact you're the one who linked me a crop feeder I can buy, which I did :) I have it on hand if I need it. You probably don't remember because you help so many people and ducks on this forum.

Ok I will give her some extra niacin. Thank you!

    Duck injured leg

It was in that thread somewhere. 500mg niacin per 4gal of water. I add a little extra (adds out to be ~600 mg per 4 gallons) since they are still growing and furthermore not spending all their time around their drinking jug anymore, so i strengthen it to help make sure they are getting their...

    Duck injured leg

Yes, they eat purina 19% duck food and I supplement their drinking water with B complex using the metzer dosage guideline. I slip the injured duck a bit extra when I medicate her

    Duck injured leg

Is there anything else I can be doing for my injured duck? A week ago one of my 8wk old muscovies had somehow gotten injured inside the duck house overnight. She will not place any weight on her right leg and her right hock is significantly swollen. After a day of no improvement I took her...

    Angel wing progress

Update: Yesterday morning is the last time I took off the pantyhose. This is how their wings looked yesterday evening. They still look good today. It only took five nights of pantyhose. Will consider it a success and continue to monitor and reapply if needed! One of the boys has forgiven me and...

Can I stop food & water at night?

Hijacking to ask a similar question if I may, please -- my ducks are 8 weeks old, do you think they are old enough to withhold food during the day to encourage foraging? Side purpose is to encourage them to bed in their coop when I call them in and open their food, they are starting to resist...

    Angel wing progress

By the time this evening rolled around their wings were back to bending outward. Back in the pantyhose they go.

    Angel wing progress

Here's how they look just after taking off the wraps this morning. Going to monitor and prepare to rewrap tonight before bed if they start turning outward again!

    Angel wing progress

That's what I was worried about.. Will do I do not have the parents, I got my ducks from Metzer. Eight muscovy, three mallards, and a goose. Two and a half muscovies are getting angel wing (I'm thinking about wrapping a third muscovy). Everyone else is doing great

    Angel wing progress

19% purina duck feed. I was thinking about cutting it with oats, would that be called for?

    Angel wing progress

A couple of my muscovies are starting to get angel wing. So today I got some pantyhose, and well... I'll just show you the results. I suppose I'm not looking for any specific advice (though I welcome it! The health of the birds comes first). Just started this thread to share the hilarity...

It was not expired! I do remember that.

    Sexing almost-five-week-old muscovies

That is reassuring, thank you. It does seem that most of the "foolproof" sexing tells I'm finding online are not totally reliable. It's been a couple weeks since I made this thread and I'm still pretty sure I have two girls and six boys. More pics because they are indeed beautiful :) I will be...

3wk old duckling suddenly having trouble walking/falling over

Pete is almost 100 percent better now, you can barely tell anything was wrong. And it turns out she's a very personable and outgoing duck when she's not in pain! Pete says thank you. I'm sad she suffered for so much longer than she could have due to a faulty (?) bottle of B complex. After a...

    Beginnings of angel wing?

My ducks are six weeks old. One of my Muscovy girls has some seriously droopy wings while her feathers are coming in. Possibly turning outward a bit? Should I be concerned/start intervening? Thank you!

3wk old duckling suddenly having trouble walking/falling over

I have a theory on why Pete is only improving now, after maintaining the same dose for a couple weeks. I didn't want to say anything until I gave it a few days to be sure but... I ran out of my first bottle of B complex last week and opened the new bottle I had on hand, and I instantly noticed...

    Duckling Grow-A-Long!

I was in the pond pulling out weeds and the gang decided to join me. I feel honored to play momma duck. They're almost six weeks old. You can see how much slower the muscovies are to get their feathers compared to the quackers.

3wk old duckling suddenly having trouble walking/falling over

If you were talking about the D3, I bought it but I haven't actually used it, because Pete is suddenly showing improvement! Hadn't changed anything, still just dosing B complex. Maybe the niacin took a bit to kick in for her. No clue. I soak the B complex in freeze-dried mealworms.
