This is my first time having silkies and I don't know a lot about them but they are adorable and sweet as can be!! When I got these two I was just told they are silkies. Can y'all tell me what kind of silkie they are? I had no Idea there were different types. Thanks
I have a question. If I put him with adult hens should it be a minimum of 4 or do you think 3 would be ok? Also do I give them some see no touch time? Or is it ok to just put him with them?. They have seen each other on and off for a few months now.
Thank you I plan on putting him in his own coop for a while while his ladies get a little older and start laying. The reintroduce him and see how that goes. I have no little children to worry about just my girls. He is truly getting nasty with them. Wish me luck. If it doesn't work out I will...
Thank you! he is considered rare because of the black comb but his meat and organs are black as well. They are not as rare as they once were you can find the Ayam Cemani breed online. I purchased fertilized eggs online and hatched him. If you do that don't expect a high hatch rate. Only 4...
I have two separate coops and runs that have plenty of space. Preston has 11 hens in his flock. And Elliot has 11 hens in his flock. Although they can see each other they are never together. Preston's girls are not laying yet. Do you think separating him from his flock for a while would help?
Hello, I am new to owning chickens. I have had my flock for a year now and added two boys which I hatched they are 5 and 6 months old. One of them is a back yard mix, Elliot, and just the most lovable boy. The other is an Ayam Cemani, Preston, he is 4 months old and has allowed me to pick him up...
I would add solar powered motion sensor lights all around your coop and run. I have them and it seems to really help. Also maybe a couple of those motion sensor dogs. Or you could try the sensors that ring like a doorbell when someone is coming up the driveway.
Here are the two I am talking about. The first 2 pictures are the same silkie and the third picture is the other silkie. I am thinking the first one is a cockerel and the other is a pullet.
No the second one is a different one. The one in the first photo is the same one in the third photo in front of the grey chickens and the one in the second photo is the one in the back of the grey chickens in the third photo
Hello everyone, I have two silkies and I am trying to figure out if this one is a cockerel. What do you think? I am posting a picture of both of them they are 8 weeks old now. The 1st picture is the one I am thinking is a cockerel the 2nd is the one I think is a pullet. Thanks.
