    Day 21 no movement

Candling and handling the egg usually will stimulate at least one chirp. Look for movement in the egg. Give until day 23. if humidity is low you may need to put a vent hole in the egg to make sure it can breathe.

    All Hens killed by Dog

I am sorry to hear that! We are off 225/16 area. We did not pursue action because they ran off too quick. All the rest of the chickens were ok, just had two roos out because they wanted to stay out and the others would beat them up. Dog description was a medium bully mix white/cream and...

I have a smaller round incubator that I remove the turning tray and lay paper towels down and put a little feed on floor in a pile and small thing of water just like an ounce or so. They normally will stand real still if they are cold. once they are warm they tend to eat and drink more. The...

    Feeling trapped by rats

I bait dead ends under the coop then sneak out and terminate them with the 22 or a bb revolver. The big plastic jaw traps work well for about a year. get them from amazon. Bait station and I have the gluten bait as well I dump down the holes. Florida has them everywhere. Tree by the coop...

    All Hens killed by Dog

We lost a favorite rooster (American Bresse beautiful too) to someone's dogs running loose. Wife got home and my oldest daughter saw the two dogs ripping him apart. She yelled and they ran. I was not home but told her next time to just shoot the dogs. If I am home, any dog that is on the...

Bad Experience with Bresse Farms in Pontotoc, MS

Out of the 10 of mine that hatched, at 7 weeks I have had two become lethargic and just die. Also plenty of room, keep the coop very clean and clean food/water with oregano oil in water. One is acting like mites are on it now, have it isolated and will treat everything for mites. (Coop/Flock)

Tractor supply sold out of chicks first day here in Starke,FL

Just thought it was interesting. Was not going to buy any or introduce any new chicks to the flock since too high risks of disease and my birds are very healthy. I think it’s a good sign that more people are getting into backyard chickens.

Bad Experience with Bresse Farms in Pontotoc, MS

I ordered 24 American Bresse hatching eggs from this place. I did not see the negative reviews and don't do FB anymore. Out of 24 only 10 hatched. The chicks were all weak and I had to nurse a few the first 24hrs and frankly were afraid they would die. Fortunately they all made it. I...
