I have had enough trouble with Meyers Jersey giants that I order them elsewhere I love Meyers, but I've had Jerseys in 3 separate orders where they are the only ones to die, including a bantam order. I ordered some from Cackle with no issues and Ideal..
I highly disagree the only shipping deaths I've had were for orders last may and august.i have had lots of december,February and March orders that thrive from assorted hatcheries ,including meyers, cackle and Ideal.
Today in south Louisiana our heat index was over 100,temp was 92,humidity is...

That would be our lovely louisiana roads..I drove out into the swamps a few weeks ago to get some super ,super nice jubilee orpingtons with great color ..my jubilees are likely from his lines, nippy certified even if he is in the swamps
And I lived it, cant go in his bird area but can view on...
I do have a Meyers egger that looks like
An Ameraucauna..she was my meal maker on one of my orders where I got ameraucana..her coloring is very slightly off, but her body is pretty standard
My Ameraucana's from Meyers are real Ameraucanas ( I ordered BBS , go blue, black and splash)
I am on Ameraucana groups and most people agree my birds are nice, especially the rooster. My hens lays a nice blue egg, medium to large sized.
It's not to cold,it depends on the part of the country.i have had far more chick deaths ordering April through october... they overheat

I am coming to this late, but most hatcheries only guarentee a 90% accuracy rate,BUT while Cackle goes into detail about different breed ( they have a 90% guarentee, but under each breed they discuss that some are harder than others) they discuss some breeds consistently are only accurate for...
It was 33 this morning and 65 now..lI had an order in that shipped late November of 22 and it was 32-33 with highs in the 40s and my January last year it was 24-25 afternoon temps of 35. The one order had extra males which was fine as it had a bunch of heritage type for grow out in the order...
I received my small box order from Meyers this morning. I wanted to share how they do it and why I am very comfortable ordering winter chicks.
All 9 chicks arrived healthy, active, very warm and alive.
They were in a small box with a heating pack that covered the bottom then the mat material on...
I find the numbers hard to believe. I have ordered and started about 100 chicks this last year, I had a total loss of 3 , twice with bantams mixed with standard and then a very small leghorn with standard chicks.. I have lost plenty when I bought from TSC ( and I started them the same way I...
I literally have a little bit of everything...my best roosters in terms of aerial awareness are my golden sebright, who sees everything ,my jubilee orpington ,and my homebrew ameraucana x legbar rooster ( but he was raised with the flock by my golden sebright hen who is very aware, flighty etc)...
It really isnt.i have dead and dying during summer, we were hitting 100 or over by the end of May..I have zero issue with Nov- March orders. I only order from hatcheries that use heat packs and allow the use of heat packs..
Also all my hens go broody from december through may not goes broody...
