Hi Debbie!
Thanks for the offer! I love the idea of a quiet silkie. I brought up the idea to my husband and he was horribly offended that I was considering it so I'll wait until someone complains and I have to take action...I'll reach out if so.
Have a great Fall!
4 hours isn't bad! Do silkies do OK with other breeds bigger than them? I'm fairly new to chickens. If you have a solid home for her I am open! I don't want Kupo eaten or anything 😹 I also don't have much room for more than 3 ladies Thanks for the reply!
Hello,
I have three 1.5 yo layers and my Amberlink is very loud, I don't want to re-home her but I'm worried my neighbors will complain (she's especially chatty in the morning!)
Curious if anyone is looking to swap for a quieter hen. I raised this gal and I don't want to let her go but she...
Update: everything seems to have normalized! She now has the strongest egg shells of them all and still sometimes lays double yolked ones but those have slowed down too. All is well and she's still my favorite lady. ❤️
Hi! I didn't nab a photo but dug around in it with a chopstick and it was very pastey and fell apart easily. Is lash material more rubbery? No eggs yet this morning but they all seem fine.
I do but I haven't cut into it, I just pulled it out of the yolk in the pan and have been too grossed out to look at it again. She's about 19 weeks old and started laying pretty normal eggs off and on 3ish weeks ago, she's a sapphire gem
One of my three laid this morning and everything seems normal. Her egg today had this weird fleshy lump in it but the yolk was fine. Is this lash material? 🤔 Should I be concerned?
Good morning!
My ISA Gold star (almost 4 mo) just laid her first egg yesterday and as far as I can tell it's very normal! I went out there this morning and there's yolk and a shrivelled shell skin in her box and a whole soft shell outside. I offer them grit and until a week ago I had them on...
I was just looking at this one! Was it easy to install? I noticed their description says up to -4 degrees fahrenheit and MN can get colder so I'm a little worried about what happens if it's too cold to function, can it manually be opened/closed easily?
No apology needed, thank you for helping me think it through! I wish I had more time to prepare - my fault!
We are in a neighborhood in MN so neighbors are very close by to us in the city. The coop has an area where they sleep and then a little area down below they can walk around - they do...
It's airy but can be in full sun until about 3 pm or so when they get some shade from the garage.
Looks like it'll be mid-80's around when we leave, high 70's and 80's with showers and high 80's again the 2nd full day we're gone (we're in MN).
Hi everyone!
I was recently on a trip and didn't have much time to prep my girls before we head out again as a family and will leave them alone for two full days. We have this coop for 3 - 12 week old girls (medium sized). Their area with the coop is fenced off on either side - one of the sides...
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
New to chicken owning. I got my girls as chicks April 7th, 2022. For my birthday! I am a CVT and previously worked with chickens at my clinic and fell in love with them.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
3
(3) What...
