    Breed?

So sad! Thank you! I was only allowed a certain amount of chickens per my husband this year. This was my shot. Oh well, maybe next year!

Thank you. I’m bummed. So she definitely won’t lay blue eggs?

    Breed?

Does this mean she won’t lay blue eggs? I’m bummed, but also excited for the speckled Sussex! I didn’t think of this breed to add to my flock.

    Breed?

I got several pullet chicks from our local tractor supply, 2 of which were Easter eggers. I’m convinced the 2nd is a roo, but now I’m not sure they are Easter eggers. Our previous Easter eggers had the chipmunk cheeks and different coloring. Could this be a speckled Sussex? Maybe I need some...

Is this discoloring a sign of sickness?

One of my hens used to be black with a green sheen to it, now she is mostly brown. Is this normal for end of summer and being outside or a sign of sickness? None of my other birds have this.

    Lavender orpington

I posted about 5 weeks ago about my LOs. They are now about 14-16 weeks old. They are much larger than the rest of my flock. Any ideas? Hens vs Roos? They look identical in terms of feather shape, but one is a little lighter than the other.

    Any safe insecticides?

Thank you for this information. I guess the next step is the exterminator.

    Any safe insecticides?

Yes human house. Seems like they’re coming inside more now, maybe because the chickens are eating them outside?

    Any safe insecticides?

I live in Northern California. We get pesky field roaches where I live. They usually die or get stuck on their backs and we feed them to our chickens. They love it! However, it seems like there are more and more inside the house now that it’s getting hotter outside. My husband would like to...

    Lavender Orpington- hen vs roo?

They should start crowing soon. My Easter egger rooster started at 8 weeks and my 2 random bantam roosters also started right at 8 weeks. Expecting him to crow any morning now. Thank you for your input!

    Lavender Orpington- hen vs roo?

Thank you! When do the saddle feathers usually come in?

    Lavender Orpington- hen vs roo?

That’s what I think as well. I can’t keep the rooster, so if they’re a pair, I don’t want to split them up.

    Lavender Orpington- hen vs roo?

I have 2 lavender Orpingtons. They are roughly 8-9 weeks old. I pretty sure the darker one is a hen, but the lighter one with a longer tail and with bigger, and more red combs could possibly be a roo? Do lavender Orpington roosters get green tail feathers? At this age, my previous roosters were...

    Frizzle? Is this normal?

Thank you! I had no ideal about frazzles. I think you’re correct, it’s a frazzle. Poor thing!

    Frizzle? Is this normal?

Hi everyone! I bought several random straight run bantams from tractor supply on 4/6. One, I think is a frizzle. 4 weeks later, the ?frizzle is looking a little rough… wondering if anyone else has one and this is normal? Or is it sick…? I think it’s a hen, but also not 100% sure.

    Easter Egger chicks

I agree. Thank you! That’s the more docile one and is smaller of the 2. But who knows!
