I am checking in with you because I’m dealing with a similar crop issue. I’m thankful for all your posts and updates. We are currently in the phase of having passed the impaction but her crop is full of stinky liquid. I’m going to see if I can suction out the nasty smelling liquid and see what...
She also laid 2 eggs today one after the other. One was a soft shell and the other completely normal. So I guess her reproductive area is back on line.
Good and Bad news. The impaction seems to be almost completely gone with exception of a few little grains. I’m still using the miconazole. The bad news is her crop is full of stinky liquid and pendulous. It smells absolutely horrid. I am going to make her a crop bra. I wonder if I should try and...
The skin under the feathers is normal if a little pink probably from my massaging. I went to the drugstore this morning and got the miconazole and gave the first dose. When I massaged the crop and held it up she let a bunch of air out and it smelled horrible. Not yeast at all but more rancid. It...
My 2 yr old Easter egger Lindsay LoHen is having an issue and I’m not 100% sure if I have the right idea. She had sour crop and it seemed to clear with yogurt because I thought I caught it quickly. Now her crop was impacted and hanging very low. She is almost trying to push it up with her feet...
I just saw this reply from Tuesday. I agree just living is life threatening 🤣👍🏼I have been unable to detect which hen it could be. I have 5 that are 2 yrs old now and 6 that are a year. I was looking at the 5 older ones and they all look to be acting normally. I’m wondering if I should take a...
Oh no 😟 I’m not entirely sure which hen it came from and it’s raining out otherwise I’d hang out with them and see if one is acting off. I do suspect my Isa Brown as I have heard they have short life expectancy. That would be so sad as she’s the sweetest bird☹️
I cut it open and it had liquid inside. Here are the photos. Although it is certainly gross I’m learning something new and I appreciate that! Will the hen be okay?
This thing was in the nesting box this morning. I have been free ranging our birds and they have enjoyed the woods lately. Anyway it could be a small animal one passed through the vent? Anyone have other thoughts on what this gross thing is? Just curious about your opinions.
I have completely changed how I feed them. They only get the natureWise chick starter grower(because of the 10wk olds in the coop now) and water. No treats at all. Things have been looking up for laying and they now are giving 3-4eggs daily witb 5 laying hens.
Please help
Last night my barred rock was in the nesting box when it was time to roost. I lifted her from the box and their was a full egg yolk/white and a piece of shell but no other shell. Today she is in the nesting box and won’t leave. I’m wondering if the shell is still inside her vent...
Yes, I would say I probably give them to much food. Usually I make them some greens (lettuce or chopped cilantro or parsley) in the morning with a cucumber half and some BSF worms. Also if it’s really hot lately I’ll give them a watermelon slice or some frozen berries to peck. I’m probably the...
