I have an almost year old cochin bantam hen that’s currently inside because she had bumblefoot. That was over a month ago, however she’s still inside because the flock won’t let her re-integrate. She went broody on non-fertilized eggs.
I gave her some eggs, she hatched a Guinea this morning...
It’s 10,000 square feet, other sources say they only need 1000 sq ft. I would be interested in only keeping one, two maximum. We have 3 acres total but that’s the only area that will be fenced. I haven’t put the welded wire fence up yet as I want to be sure it will hold an emu if I do decide to...
I don’t have an emu but I’m entertaining the idea because I want one
I have 1/4 acre area I can use. Two sides are wooden fences, the other sides will be welded wire (like for cattle) either 4 or 5 feet tall. The wooden side is 8ft.
There are chickens and guineas in this area. About 40 of them...
This is Fleet- the most “normal” of the 3, but the coolest looking.
None have combs or horns, and they all have tiny tiny wattles which seemed to have stopped growing. I’ll post a timeline. They’re all 2 months old now. He has trouble making noise. I can see him opening and closing his mouth to...
This was Thursday
This is today. This is a hybrid, he has a lot going on. Dad is half Silkie, half turken, mom is a Pearl Guinea Hen. Feathers appear frizzled? Will that cause a thickness like that?
Humidity is now in the 70s. It’s been over 12 hours since I’ve taken that photo, and still no difference in the egg or position of the bird. The veins on the membrane are shrinking and becoming less red and visible.
6-8 hours externally pipped. And it hasn’t moved from that position since. It’s activity has declined a lot, which is why I’m worried. I know they take naps, I’ve hatched quite a few chicken eggs. First time with Guinea eggs.
3 weeks old update. Still half naked on the left side. Her wing on her left side is messed up, has been for a couple weeks.
Wing feathers almost match each other
Bottom right half of her underside is a light color
No very noticeable difference when looking straight on at her face. The left...
I had 6 successful hatches…. 3 with naked necks, 2 regular, and this one with the left half of its neck naked, the right half feathered also the pattern/colors aren’t very symmetrical and she was only flipped upside down for 3 seconds for this photo, no harm done
Also any idea on fully grown...
It was a double yolk and I noticed only this yolk was fertile but I’m wanting to know if they’re fertilized for hatching other ones she lays. I can tell with chicken eggs but guineas seem harder
