That’s what I was thinking. Well I just switched to Kalmbach for multiple reasons, but I do not like this new way of dating plus it’s about $10 more per bag compared to the Neutrena I was using from TSC. I want fresh food for my flock so I will be looking for a different brand. I have 11...
I finished the 3rd deworming. What do you recommend for egg withdrawal on safeguard goat & Valbazen? I am going to buy more of both kinds for next time I have to deworm.
I am noticing that a couple of my other chickens are developing runny poops & starting to have dirty butt. (Gabby with the...
How did your hen do after that bad molt inside?
I have found that it’s best to bring them out to the coop at night works the most peacefully. Then in the morning I sit with them to make sure the others aren’t picking on her & bring them back inside if they start to get picked on.
I think mine...
I ordered a 100 box of 1ml syringes yesterday & what I’ll do in the future if needed is divide the dose for each bird into 2 syringes.
Could you please confirm if I should repeat this treatment of safeguard 10% goat wormer in 10-14 days?
Yep, that’s what I have been giving & dosing off what you told me. I didn’t know how to do the math before you showed me. I’ve gotten better at it today so I will stick with the safeguard goat, but it would be nice to have many oral syringes so I can have each birds dose drawn up ahead of time...
That clarifies alot! I didn’t know there was a difference btwn the 2 safeguards. The picture (offset to the right) I had attached of the goat kind with vets text (offset to the left of the screen) screenshot was taken by me & sent to my vet to make sure I had the correct product. He never got...
Mites, lice & fleas will probably curse me next. That’s another reason that I am cleaning out all the coop bedding this wknd.
While I have the coop emptied out & the chickens are in the run what would anyone suggest I use to sprinkle or spray around to deter the external parasites & also be...
It’s so hard to know what to do with this gapeworm problem being I have read different methods of treatment & it’s not a commonality with everyone.
Has anyone out there ever had a gapeworm diagnosis & had success with controlling the nasty buggers? She has been through so much. She a tough...
Then this may be why it didn’t work when I originally suspected gapeworm in her back in November. I had her separated & treated her with safeguard goat liquid in water back then & just prior to that I had done a preventative Ivermectin pour on drops on each neck base on everyone for worms &...
Dang it anyway, the cold is good for nothing!!
Yes I originally started with it their water & a couple ppl on this thread told me that that is not effective enough so yesterday I gave it to them each by hand & was covered in more of the white liquid than I think I got in their mouths.
Thank you, that was a great post. I think I might go pick up some Valbazen since the dose is about half the volume & might be easier to get into them. Do you see any harm in switching over? They have a 2 days dose of safeguard in them now.
Can you clarify if I should be cleaning out the coop...
Wow Meds are hard to give 15 chickens!! That was pretty much a disaster & not sure that each one swallowed the whole dose😫🤯. I only got half of them done. I weighed each one. Here’s what we have for chicken weights:
3 @ 3 lbs
3 @ 4 lbs
8 @ 5 lbs
1 @ 7 lbs
Is there a better way of getting...
Thank you for answering.
Our run & coop are less than a year old.
•The run has our natural ground sandy soil with 2 straw bales & straw on the ground for them to scratch around in & keep their feet warmer.
•The coop has pine shavings on an untreated plywood floor. We also have a poop...
Welcome to the way my life rolls😂 anything out of the ordinary seems to happen to me 🫣. Thank goodness for you fellow chickeners to help me through my first year of chicken keeping. I got my first 4 chicks March 17 2022 ☘️. Maybe not such a lucky day in my world…LOL.
So for gapeworm treatment...
Sorry, I do still have questions from my reply post last night at 8:14 pm. I tagged you in that post. Maybe you didn’t see that one because I posted a few posts. My vet is not answering my questions. He is so busy & I get the sense that he doesn’t see chickens as pets. To him $3 chickens...
I ask additional questions on here because my vet does not enjoy chickens as patients & I’d like to know what else to do to rid of the worms & eggs & help Gabbys issue of diarrhea stop.
Gabby started vomiting up clear fluid (she hasn’t done this for weeks now) & splattery poops again tonight &...
