    Speckled Sussex Hen/Roo?

I would guess yours is a cockerel. But I will say my SS pullet developed in a more masculine way earlier than any of our other chicks (except our SS cockerel). If we didn't have one of each sex I would be convinced she was a he. I will see if I can find some pics of them a few weeks ago for...

A hangable, chargeable light bulb-no electricity needed

Yes, they would work for that. Only problem is the remote only works from about 5-6 meters, no further, I think.. So you would probably have to go out to the coop to turn it off/on. Ours is a solar charger but can be plugged into a usb port/adapter instead. It works perfectly while plugged in...

A hangable, chargeable light bulb-no electricity needed

Omg we bought these a few weeks ago. They rock! Ours have solar panels to charge them. How did we ever live without them?

chickens wont sleep in coop at night

My chicks were doing this recently. At dusk they were huddling in the run on a step because the adult roosting drama was too much. I carried them in for a few nights but that got old fast. So I started hosing the run down around them and basically herding them to the pop door with the water...

One of my chicks died. I only had 2, now only 1. Now his brother won't stop chirping unless I hold him. What do I do?

I would definitely run down to the feed store or check online locally to see if you can find at least one more chick around the same age to add asap.

Late bloomer black australorp or different breed?

I see why you are wondering. I mean, she looks like an australorp but also ... There's something different about her that I can't put my finger on. Maybe you are right, just a late bloomer. Maybe someone else can give more insight?

    Black australorp chick?

If it is a barred rock, then at least know they are often lovely birds. One of my hens is just the coolest, smartest chicken. :love

3 month old chickens keep killing eachother in 10 by 18 coop with 5 gallon food dish and 2 gallon water what is the cause

We used veterycin spray on our birds' injuries after we cleaned them. It worked incredibly well.

3 month old chickens keep killing eachother in 10 by 18 coop with 5 gallon food dish and 2 gallon water what is the cause

Just chiming in for moral support. Everyone is saying what I would suggest. We had a raccoon incident a few months ago. Its just hard all around when something is killing and injuring your birds. Heartbreak, frustration trying to figure out what is going on and how to solve it, hard work, and...

    Black australorp chick?

Boy, that black barred one sure looks like a barred rock to me. :idunno But I am still pretty new at this so take my comment with a grain of salt.

Was sure they were hens, now I’m not!

Look like pullets to me but I'm no expert. They just look a lot like my RIR and BR hens. On a side note, I love how BR always look like they are grumpy.

    Hen or Rooster?!

Sure looks like a cockerel to me. :hmm

    Any pullets in this bunch?

Hopefully its not too long a drive. But you are probably right then. If you could take more than one you might improve your odds. Or wait a few weeks and see about getting updated photos. Unfortunately I have had more than one chick surprise me at that age. That said, I think your daughter could...

    Rooster not a gentleman

Ohhh. Hahaha. Well, thats almost worse. His poor girls! My Dundee tidbits all day long and every time a hen sings the egg song he runs to her like his tail is on fire to escort her to wherever the flock is free-ranging. Its honestly hilarious. Is yours maybe just a bit young and he needs to...

    Any pullets in this bunch?

Hopefully others with more experience than me chimes in, so take my answer with a grain of salt. But I only see one that I think is most likely a cockerel. That said, pullets can be a bit tricky to sex at this age and from these pics. I've had RIR and BR pullets that looked very similar to a few...

    Rooster not a gentleman

I had a roo named Rocky who was not a gentleman at all. He was delicious. Now we have a roo named Dundee, and he is very respectful of humans and pets, while very attentive to his ladies. A few need saddles, so occasionally too attentive. But overall, a lovely bird. Moral of the story: you do...

    Breed ID.

I had some New Hampshire hens. I would guess that D and E are New Hampshires. Editted to add: I just noticed those white tail feathers on E, so he must be mixed with something. Handsome boys anyway. A, B and C sure look like Easter Eggs to me too.

    Mystery chick breed sex

Thanks for the responses. I really hope its a pullet (surprise! :fl). We have enough hens for one more roo to share duties with our mature roo. It will just make it so much easier if I have to 'rehome' fewer cockerels. I really like this chick. Of this batch I think its the lovliest. As a little...
