    Young Pullet Laying Shell-less Eggs

I have a 23 week old Silverudd Blue laying shell-less eggs. This latest one has a yellow substance on it. This is her 3rd day/egg with no shell. Has never laid an egg with a shell. Her 6 flock mates now have all started laying (same age). I have them on a grower mash feed (S&P) and provide...

Need help sexing 6 week old chickies >> Silverudd Blue, Ayem Cemani, Silver Double Laced Barnevelder

The Cemani is a pullet! Her feathers aren’t exactly laced, but white at the edges which is quite a cool look. Her 3rd egg came today at 18 weeks old. They’re small and cute but are cream colored with white speckles.. pretty cool and unexpected actually.

Droopy neck, 14 week old bielefelder

We’ve had her on the Vit E and B complex for 3 days now and she has seen great improvement. Day 1 she was laying almost lifeless, unable to stand and her neck was all crooked and moving all over the place. I was sure this was a one direction outcome. To my surprise her neck is about 90% back...

Droopy neck, 14 week old bielefelder

I’ve separated her to her own space, but brought her into my garage since we have some especially hot weather today. Ordered the Vit E and B complex. Should arrive later today. Regarding Marek’s disease… I had this in my flock last year. I lost a few. I accidentally got some chicks that...

Droopy neck, 14 week old bielefelder

Thank you. I’ll try that. She eats Scratch & Peck Layer Feed. She is at the bottom of the pecking order among 12 chickens.

Droopy neck, 14 week old bielefelder

I have a 14 week old bielefelder and suddenly she is exhibiting droppy neck like she can barely pick her head up. No obvious injuries. Any idea of what it could be? I’ve separated her from the rest of the flock. See video,

1 year old Welsummer limping with no apparent injury

As you can see, she is still quite mobile but favoring her right side. She limps, kind of curls her toes at times. While foraging, she’ll sit down when she finds a spot and forages while sitting. Thoughts on this? No obvious injury. Could she have fallen off of the roost at night? Something else?

1 year old Welsummer limping with no apparent injury

She does put a good amount of weight on it. And it is certainly one leg, not both. She does grasp my finger when I stroke her foot pad. I’ll upload the video later when I get to my computer. Thanks

1 year old Welsummer limping with no apparent injury

I’ve noticed the last few days that my one year-old wellsummer has been sort of leaning to one side when she walks and favoring one leg. There’s no injury evident. It’s only been a couple days that I’ve noticed this, so maybe it will improve. She is healthy otherwise, and is one of the more...

Sexing two silver double laced barnevelders

They are in fact roosters. Here in the pics they are 9 weeks old. They are quite skittish and don’t seem to be interested in grubs. But they are not yet aggressive and don’t mind me once they are in my arms. For comparison sake, I have a male silverrudd blue from the same batch of chicks. He...

    Help with Barnevelders!

Gotcha. Even though I don't have any pullets to compare them to, I think by 6 weeks I felt pretty confident they were roos. Their adult feathers were mostly black, especially the breast. Also, their growing combs and signs of wattles had the pinkish hue to them. The way their legs were angled...

    Help with Barnevelders!

At the moment, they are 8 weeks old. I heard some practicing crowing just yesterday actually. But it was hard to say if it was them because there is 1 other roo in group (a silverudd blue). No full throated crowing yet with any of them.

What predator do you see making their getaway in this video? Left the chicken's body behind.

We lost our silkie last week to a predator. While I don't know what it was for sure, I have a little bit of video footage of it's escape as I entered my backyard. We live just outside of Seattle, our backyard backs up to a creek. We had 4 chickens at the time. Last week I was just coming home...

Alright, my babies are now 6 weeks old as of today. I have my own guesses about their sexes, but will let you make your own. I got them all from Feather Lover Farms in California. Let me know if you have any questions or if you would to see pictures from other views. I am most stumped with the...

4 week old Silverudd Blues - what genders do we have here?

I need help sexing my Silverudd Blue chicks. I have 3 of them about 4 weeks old. Initially, I thought it was pretty clear when I noticed 1 chick was significantly larger than the other two. While that size difference is still there, I'm second guessing my thoughts. What do you all think? Weights...
