    Heterochromia genetics

My question is about animals in general, I haven't really seen distinct heterochromia in chickens

    Heterochromia genetics

How about mammal-wise? I know this is less of a chicken thing but I thought this would be a good forum to discuss general genetics. I haven't found much on the Internet so if anyone has any personal experience with heterochromia genetics I'd love to hear them out.

    Heterochromia genetics

The example I gave was more based on cats/dogs. I've owned turkeys with sectoral blue-black heterochromia though and a chicken with marbled eyes years back so I know birds can have it heterochromia, too. It's mostly a genetics question though. I'm just curious how dominant heterochromia is and...

    Heterochromia genetics

Hello everyone! I've seen color calculators and was wondering if anyone knew one for eyes? I'd love to know what blue-yellow x green eyes would make, how green-blue and general heterochromia originates, and how heterochromia varies across species. I haven't found much online so if you know some...

Taping cat ears; similar to taping dog ears?

That's horrible! I know cats and dogs aren't the same but it makes me wonder if dogs with floppy ears also have anything they are prone to? I know they get ear infections easier since their ears provide a darker more optimal space for bad things to grow in there but does anyone know if there are...

Taping cat ears; similar to taping dog ears?

Thank you for the info, everyone! I love the floppy/folded ear look but prioritize their safety and comfort first so I won't be taping their ears just to update. Also, what's the genetic issue in Scottish folds and how does it affect them? They were one of my favorite breeds as a kid and I was...

Taping cat ears; similar to taping dog ears?

I've seen people taping dog ears for show or preference to be up or down. I've wanted to adopt a cat with Scottish fold ears but currently have a domestic short hair kitten so I was wondering if there was a way to tape cat ears like people do with dogs and if it was safe and effective? I have...

    Houdan's butterfly comb

I'll be crossing them with pea and single combs, how many generations do you think it will take to get a full butterfly comb? I really wanted to start out with a rooster with a big butterfly comb to simplify things but I'm not having much hope that it will happen anymore so I'll consider trying...

    Houdan's butterfly comb

It was for anyone viewing the thread and didn't want to click off; a faster and easier visual. Would you happen to know any places that are selling any butterfly comb chickens or know how the butterfly comb came to be (such as crosses between other combs)?

    Houdan's butterfly comb

I just wanted to go more indepth and include a visual reference.

    Houdan's butterfly comb

This is a buttercup comb, it stays connected and has a lot more and narrower spikes unlike the buttercup comb.

    Houdan's butterfly comb

Here are some examples for reference of what I'm looking for, butterfly combs go diagonally outward whereas buttercup combs are much more pointier and go upward in a cup type of shape. I am trying to find some chickens, chicks, or eggs from chickens that look like the ones in the photos.

    Houdan's butterfly comb

I am working on a breeding project and want to incorporate butterfly combs from Houdans into it. I've looked at a lot of places and found the US SOP of Houndans have a V-comb while other places' SOP explain Houdans have a butterfly comb. Where can I find someone selling any eggs or chicks from...

Nurture Right 360 incubator suddenly powered off; How do I fix it?

Update! I sent them a message and they can't provide the computer part of it that stopped working. They said I could be refunded for a year warranty but I bought the incubator from someone else so I don't think I'm eligible. Does anyone know what else I can do to save it or have a similar...

Looking for eggs from healthy chickens with blue eyes or heterochromia

Hi! I would like to buy eggs from chickens with unique eyes! I've seen some people on this site with beautiful chickens with light blue eyes with light brown, light blue eyes with orange, different color eyes, and marbled eyes. Please message me or reply in this thread if you have any fertile...

Nurture Right 360 incubator suddenly powered off; How do I fix it?

No lights, I have two 360 incubators and the cord and outlet aren't the problem. I tried to plug it in after a few days hoping it just needed some rest but nothing happened so it probably is a dead motor. Where could I buy a new one and how do I replace it?

Nurture Right 360 incubator suddenly powered off; How do I fix it?

My 360 incubator isn't turning on, the plug works for my other 360 incubator so it's not the problem but the incubator itself. How do I go about fixing it and what will I need?

    Can dogs eat carpet beetles?

I don't have a working camera but they look exactly like the images of black carpet beetles on google and I don't know any other house pest that would look exactly like that and eat feathers.

    Can dogs eat carpet beetles?

They are black carpet beetles, and I found some feathers with little bites out of them so I'm pretty sure it's them.
