I have all black and blue coppers as well as a few splash hens. I bought some hens from a local breeder and had my mom pick them up and bring them to me, when they got here 3 of them (2 black 1 blue) have NO copper. She can't tell me if they have any copper in their background. Should I just...
Yes, we hope that will be the case. They are 7 and 13 month old corgis and so "herding" is so much fun, then they catch them and pull their feathers out. They are good when we are there, but can't be trusted alone, and unfortunately they have access to the yard through the doggy door...
okay, thank you for clarifying!!! I was wondering how the heck I was gonna get rid of it, and its so pretty I didn't think I wanted to! Glad to know my girls are on the right track!
So, I know that the black coppers are not supposed to have a green sheen to them, but all of mine do. There is no mossiness and they have a good amount of copper, I am just not sure how to breed out the green sheen.
thank you! Ours are unfortunately not allowed to free range anymore. We have 2 puppies who like to "play" with them so they are safer in their coop/run. They do get some alfalfa but other than that its just pelleted feed right now. We have 17 chickens, 4 guineas and 2 ducks. I was just...
I will see if I have any full profile pics of her, she does in person have a more sloping topline. She is a big girl and I can't wait to see her mature. Its been a process to get cuckoos with feathered shanks and I am sure they will continue to be a project.
I am hoping that I can get opinions and critique of this 4 month old pullet. She ha not started laying yet so I am not sure what color her eggs will be. She has adequate foot/shank feathering
I have been away from byc for sometime now, and I am just starting to get back ino my birds. I just have a few but I wanted to share my favorite blue copper hen. She is not prefect but she lays beautiful eggs! I bought her from pinkchick 3 or 4 years ago!

I am pretty sure I know what the answer is, and if he is a boy he will have to go so I want opinions bEFORE I sell him/her. He/She is just fully feathered, I am not sure of the exact age but probably 6 weeks or so? Bantam Cochin. Thanks in advance
Quick question for those of you who raise meat birds to sell, is there any special licensing you have to get to sell them? What are the ins and outs? Thanks in advance!
my eggs that my broody ditched are starting to hatch! Problem is its only the cochins so far! Hopefully the marans are still going and wake up soon! At least the cochin eggs are half marans, not sure what they will look like, but we will see!
ETA: I lied, the eggs are from our blue chicken...
