I have a quail that is just keeping the tip of its beak outside of the egg however it has made no progress in the last 24 hours. I see its beak moving but I am getting worried! At what point do you step in, especially since it has pipped on the narrow end of the egg?

Hello! I know that people have mallards and I found what looks to be a mallard egg in my backyard. I looked all around for a nest but don't see one anywhere! Would I be allowed to incubate it and give it to a wildlife center if it hatches?
