Right, I’m aware it could be her calcium intake is low. They also have oyster shell and shells fed back to them. So makes me wonder if she’s just not choosing to eat more calcium if needed or if the poop was related to the soft egg laying.
And she’s not overweight. They free range on 1/2 an acre during the day and late afternoon they get to free range on another acre or so when we are outside. She feels like a solid weight but def not overweight at all. I’ll just keep monitoring her.
I’m in south central louisiana and the weather has been hot in mid 80’s with a small short cool front of 70+ passing through every week or two. I know my grow outs have been drinking a ton of water. Do you think perhaps it’s just from a lot of water?
My page keeps reloading not sure msgs are going through.
They get sunflower seeds only and only in the evening. It is not a huge amount and has never been an issue over the years. So I’m not thinking it’s dietary.
Not sure if she’s still pooping like this. She’s a 3 year old EE of course no idea what the mix is that made her. They eat Nutrena layer crumbles and pellets with sunflower seeds as evening treat. I can’t imagine it’s food related. I’m at a loss!
My hen did this type of poop yesterday. I don’t think she’s been laying. Before this she laid soft shell egg and I gave her calcium with vitD. I’ve seen pics similar to this before on this site but can’t find anything like it now.
Any ideas?
And @theoldchick thank y’all both for the input.
I’ve had her for a couple of years and always just wondered. I currently have 10 sapphire gems and 10 cinnamon queens about 5wks old and 2 blue Australorps all from Hoovers. Have never had any of these breeds. I know it’s hatchery quality but I...
I had thought so (and just got 10 for myself) but then I read this description “ have a necklace-like pattern of gold or gray around their necks resembling a string of gems.” So I was confused. But she’s a great hen, I absolutely love her demeanor!
I always search to see if you have info when there’s a problem. Your article about a prolapsed vent immediately saved my hen, thank you, again!
I have a 16wk old EE, there is fowl pox going through some of my younger ones and perhaps her. Her comb looks crusty on the edges but no true blisters...
At what point should I clean out the bedding in the coops? I was going to do one more dose ion day 10 just to be sure worms and eggs are gone :fl Someone has dark green spinach looking poop, not sure why. I read it could be they are starving but they are all eating well I believe. Can this be...
She’s already on ProHeart injection for heartworm prevention, would hate to double dose her on that. Maybe I will have a fecal test in her in a couple weeks just to see and go from there.
Earlier you mentioned the soil is contaminated, is there a way to treat the ground? Their run is 12x60 and...
Sorry, one more question. My daughter’s dog is the biggest protector of the flock and in return they feed her poop snacks. I fuss her to stop but she’s definitely has eaten it many times, gross. Vet said not same type of worms she won’t be infected but, seems at least round worms are the same...
