I noticed just now that our roo's comb is turing slightly black at the end. Hes a black australorp and his comb has been red for 2 years now but today I noticed the end furthest from his head seems to be turning a black color...any advice etc?
MPC does indeed outsource their supply of fuzzbutts and mine came from Ohio...other than a Roo in the mix it has been as satisfactory as when I ordered from Cackle so A-plus
Seattlite here.....Keep the water out and the breezes to a minimum so the girls are dry and they should be fine and Sand not pea gravel is your best bet imo

welcome and you have already gotten pretty good advice ..I myself have integrated mixed age birds by alloowing them too live side by side for a week before "free ranging" them in the evenings under suprervision and then finally fully mixing them one night to much succes normally....good luck....

I have succesfully integrated 8week olds with 18week olds but did so slowly by letting them see eachother first and then free ranging together under supervision first before fully integrating them....we did have som bullying by the big girls for food etc but that quickly went away partially...
you may have ....I am not an expert and can only relate my own experiences....if momma is done with them they can be brooded in the main coop or where the flock can see them and interact with them for a week or two youll find integration far smooother....since they are 9weeks if you can get them...
I am not suggesting animal abuse but like the cocky kid sometimes they just need someone to beat them up .....some may require more effort to get them to stop testing and like a wolfhybrid we rescued a few years back some may just test you on occasion because they never learn their spot ...good...
