Well, today I went to get 10 more chicks and came home with 12 chicks and 4 duckies. That makes 32 chicks and 4 ducks in three days. Not including what I already have at home.
We built a harware cloth wall 4 ft inside the doors of our coop. We're in South Carolina and it's hot in the summer. We also added extra vents all around the top for when the doors need to be closed up. Since it's all hardware cloth I can keep the big doors open in the summer all night long.
I have ten that vary in age from 1 to 7. Yesterday I bought 10 chicks, today I bought 10 more and tomorrow I'm going back for 10 more. TSC has new chicks of different breeds each day lol.
I told my husband he needs to make me a master list. He did it all on his own. I can't take any credit for the water system. The roofing for the outside pen was delivered today. Still need to get the bird netting for the two outer uncovered pens. The chicknic table has been painted, courtesy of...
I just bought five of the California Tan chicks from TSC today. They're yellow with black spots. Some have orange legs and some have black legs. I've never heard of them before.
My husband tore down our outside pen and is rebuilding it. My coop itself is a 10x12 shed. On the right side of the coop we now have two outdoor pens. The one closest to the coop will have a roof over it. He's still building it, you can see it's open but it will be covered. Attached to the soon...
My Ador arrived quickly and my husband installed it. It was so easy to install, just screw it in. Once the battery was put in it instantly opened the door. We're rebuilding our coop so I haven't added the extra open button yet.
After reading this thread I ordered the Ardor at 2 am last night. I already have a shipping notification. I added on the extended external pushbutton but didn't see any option for a solar panel. Where might I find one that is compatible?
I have a female Mallard named Fergie and a male Pekin named Travis. They were hatched around Feb 10th so they are a little over three months old. This is my first time having ducks, although I have had chickens for a few years. Will the male Pekin mate with the female Mallard? At what age should...
The two white ones are Pekin and the small, darker brown one is a Mallard. What is the lighter brown one in the front and the tall, thin one in the back? They were sold to us as Mallards and Pekins, but these two look different. Also, any clue on gender? I think the little Mallard is a female...
My son bought me ducklings from TSC 2 weeks ago. I have raised chickens, but never ducks. I called TSC and they said my yellow ducks are pekin and the brown ones are mallard. I have six total. One of the three yellow ducklings stands upright and has a leaner body, would this be a runner duck...
I candled them at 4 days and there was no hole. It must have happened at that point because that's the only time the eggs have been handled.
Kind of hard to see but I can see the veins and the chick growing.
My eggs are due to hatch June 10th. I was just candling them and one of them has a hole in it on the side. The baby is developing, what do I do? Should I discard the egg now or let it and see what happens? Is there a way to close the hole?
I cracked open this egg and noticed all these little circles on the yolk. It looks like it's been fertilized 20 times lol.. What could it be? I didn't eat it and haven't seen it again on any of my other eggs. It's kind of hard to see with the glare but there are little circles all over the yolk.
