    It’s not hard to clean at all , I generally clean the poop boards ever other day and change out the chopped hemp bedding once a year .

    The chickies are going on 21 weeks old this Thursday , 11/03/2023 and look what I found inside the coop today . About half size of a normal egg .

    Thank you . Yes, we did pretty good with the pullet to roo ratio with this hatch. That white bird is a beauty , green legs , green beak . I've never seen one like her either . My daughter says she's gonna birdnap her .

    Chicks are 13 weeks old today . 8 pullets and 4 roos . Gave 3 of the roos away . Here;s a pic of a few of the pullets , they are a mix , all look to have some EE in them . They are all doing quite well .

    12 in the brooder , 2 eggs still in incubator , one did start zipping late last night but now nothing , I'll check again soon . The other never pipped or zipped .     We are now into day 20 + and so far 2 eggs are starting to zip . Fingers crossed for a good hatch .

    Made it to lock down with 16 eggs , turner rack is removed , filled reservoir A & B . Candled all the eggs one last time , they all look good . A few more days .

    We are at 16 eggs now out of original 18 . That one we thought might have veining was a no start , cracked it to double check .

    Checked the 3 question marks again today , one we see veining/embryo , one we still see nothing , and the last we are still not sure . We cracked open the one we saw nothing and sure enough nothing , it never started . We will check the last question mark in another day or so , we think it has...

    Checked the rest of the eggs , out of the 18 we have 15 developing and 3 question marks . We think we see veining in one of the questionable eggs but not sure , will check those 3 in a day or so . If we can't see anything then we'll get rid of those.

    Long time no post . My birds are 4 years old now , the Red Stars are hardly laying but the Barred Rocks are still at almost and egg a day . The Red Stars are going , I'll keep the Barred Rocks for now , but I need more egg layers . I just got 18 eggs from a freind , he has EE"s , BO's Leghorns...

    Thank you . Coop floor is 3/4" pressure treated plywood painted with battleship gray deck paint .

    Right around $1500 in materials , but that was before prices on building materials went bonkers .
