Anyone know where I can buy Marek's vaccine in the bay area? Or plan on doing it this week and will have leftover vaccine? (I only have four chicks and can come to you.)
We put a couple Trader Joes Fertilized Eggs under our broody hen this spring. Unfortunately, both chicks turned out to be boys. They are gorgeous small white cockerels, just started crowing.
Please help me find a good home for them. I suspect they have great "laying hen" bloodlines - so if...
Anyone got any Marans eggs (fertilized)? Charlotte is broody. I'm hoping for a couple black copper marans but am okay with any others (and with mixes/mutts). Anyone out there?
Anyone going to the Stockton show? January 25-27?
There's a thread started: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/727934/ppba-show-in-stockton-california
Hope to see some of you there. (I'm also on the lookout for a Marans or two. Or maybe a couple of those penedescensas? Need me some...
Glad to! I'm so happy he'll be with you. Couldn't think of anyone better.
He's just so gorgeous - I couldn't imagine him doing anything but helping make more gorgeous birds like him.
Here's Milo - our MilleFleur Leghorn from Cheryl. He's so beautiful. I know he's going to make beautiful babies.
This photo really doesn't do him justice:
He's already trying to be a ladies man but not very successful yet... (and still gets henpecked by his mom.)
Good luck with the auction, Cheryl! Hope it went well.
I'm probably going to have to rehome a young cockerel - Milo, our stunning Millefleur Leghorn from Cheryl's line, is needing a new home. He woke me up at 4 frickin' 40 am this morning. I tossed him in a dog crate in the coop and he shut...
Thank you for the great instructions! Just processed one of my boys. He had a great life and I think he had a respectful processing. I especially appreciated the info about using the contractor bag and about the last spasm. Helped to know what to expect. And the temperature for the water to...
Hi folks,
just wanted to post a link to some photos. My girls were helping me in the garden today.
There's a couple shots that'll be of interest to Cheryl - the boys from my recent hatch. There's several of the millefleur leghorn boy and a couple of the SilverPenciled rocks boys. If anyone...

Apparently the two different strains of virus in the vaccines recombined to create a third strain that was causing disease. Oops!
Vet says she's looking okay and will do a fecal sample but thinks she's fine. Yay! The vet was great, btw. Santa Clara Pet Hospital near Kiely and Homestead. He has chickens himself.
Guess I'm just nervous because of losing Jane while I was gone.
In other news, I'm taking Stella (my Sicilian Buttercup) to the vet today. She's been acting lethargic. Wanna get her checked out and make sure there's nothing that's gonna make my flock sick.
Wow - he's so gorgeous!
BTW - sad to report the Jubilee egg didn't hatch. Neither did that "orange Mille Fleur". I ended up with 6 chicks total. Looks like 4 MilleFleurs and 2 something else. (One yellow that I'm guessing is one of the silverlaced and one kinda orangey that I have no idea...
