Anyone able to id this ducklings breed? It was a lone survivor in a batch of ducklings shipped to my tractor supply. It’s with some chicks I have and will be getting a duckling friend in a couple days.
It hatched with the others, and looked strange right away. Doesn't get picked on and seems strong and healthy otherwise. I think the back is adult feathers starting to grow in? I agree it looks picked on from the back but theres no redness or irritation, and the whole head is without feathering...
I have a coturnix quail chick that was hatched with no down. Now the other hatchlings are almost feathered in and this quail chick has much less feathering. Anyone heard of this?
I have 2 pullets my husband picked up at the feed store, Sold as dorkings. They are mottled so I'm thinking speckled sussex? I wouldn't think jubilee orpington would be sold at a feed store. What breed are they?
I also ordered a dozen off of ebay from black walnut farm. They got their dumpys from sandhill.
Mine have just gone into lockdown, looks like I will only be getting a few. The eggs traveled from east coast to west coast and arrived here in a heat wave, so I'm lucky to be getting any.
Anyone have icelandics? I have a mix of the 4 imports but am looking specifically for the Behl import.
Also, I have hatching eggs and some chicks available. If anyone is interested in getting started with icelandics.
Does anyone live near northern California, have pure lines? I'm specifically looking for some more Behl eggs, chicks or chickens. I had a very low hatch of shipped eggs and will need some genetic diversity. Willing to travel to Oregon or possibly Washington at some point this summer.
I also...
This is Domino (mottled bantam cochin)... I got him/her at around 18 weeks and can't tell if I have a roo or hen. I'm estimating him/her to be about 22 weeks, along with its flock (a barred rock, old english game, wellsumers). None have started to lay yet, but combs are turning pink. I'm...
I have a point of lay hen, acting under the weather. I believe these are tape worms, right (white rice like segments)? Valbazen is the only thing that will treat this? I'm having a hard time finding it, I will have to order.
One showing near the top.
2 showing near the bottom.
Ok, makes sense now. Will the females still be a solid color? Or the the white laced red roo cause them to be patterned?
Also, does the frizzle gene get passed in a similar way? Both white chicks look like they'll be frizzled, the black chicks (that turned out barred) were smooth.
