Two different hatches three weeks apart.

No problem. Our one girl in the youngest group was getting beat up by the two cockerels there, so we went ahead and pulled her and another one at five weeks and stuck them out with the eight week olds. They did just fine even with the more gentle rooster in that group. Thanks for checking!

Two different hatches three weeks apart.

So we have four light Brahma chicks that are now five weeks old. And five more that are now two weeks old. I plan on moving the bigger set to an outdoor coop as soon as it warms up a bit more here. My question is can I move my younger set into the bigger brooder with the older/bigger birds to...

Daughter has a Chicken YouTube Channel.

Hey my daughter has a new YouTube channel called Magdalene’s House of Hens. We’ve started it to give her a place to talk about her love for all things chickens. You can find her channel here: We would appreciate any support and advice/insight from our backyard chicken community. Thanks in...

    Twelve week old Brahmas

Is it the one without feathers on its legs? We got ours from a hatchery and two came without feathers on their feet. That would explain it. How do you know the difference?

I’m thinking all our chickens are ladies, hoping so since all the light Brahmas should have been since they were sexed, but wanted to double check about our buff Brahma. Any guesses? Anyone spot a roo?

    Buff Brahma gender

I told my daughter it was likely too early to tell but she insisted I ask the experts their thoughts on our straight run buff Brahma. You guys think Jane or Jacob or still too early?

Our chicks have been great. I love their giant size and their feathered legs! They are also super calm and friendly, which was important to us as we have multiple kids. We can't wait for them to be fullsized wandering around our back yard.

    Glad to be here!

So I’m new to chickens, honestly they sorta freaked me out, but my oldest daughter (11) started a snack stand in the front yard with the purpose of making enough to purchase chickens. I reluctantly began to research breeds and chicken care which has led me here multiple times. We settled on...
