I've been collecting eggs for hatching and today I noticed they are starting to show strange spots? Any ideas what is happening? These eggs are usually a solid light tan colour.
This morning: one died in the brooder, looks like it was smothered in its water*, and one dead in the incubator, no idea why, it was hatched and dry. 46 active quail chicks in the brooder and *maybe* a couple more hatching in the incubator.

Quail people: How long can the quail chicks stay in the incubator? It's been about 26 hours since the first chicks emerged. Eggs are still pipping and hatching. I'm nervous to open the lid and lose humidity.
I'm really interested in eating them since I read about the health benefits of black meat and how its really popular in Asian cuisine 😋
That being said, I don't think I would eat the hens, just the roosters.
My 2 silkies are about 5.5 weeks old now! One is bigger than the other but neither have any comb development, still looking pretty flat. My hopes for 2 girls have increased 😅💗
You'll really want to quarantine new birds for 2-3 weeks when you get them. You never know what parasites/diseases they are bringing with them. Even when we think we are bringing in healthy birds, you'd be surprised how often you discover something, like mites or lice, after a couple days of...
