Hildegard died during the night when I was still trying to fix her crop issues. Henrietta and Blanche were killed by a raccoon that got into their pen six nights ago. I am heartbroken and doubt I will ever get chickens again to be honest.
This is Blanche, I was told that she is a Porcelain D’Uccle, I am pretty sure she is a pigeon. She is eight weeks old, any ideas of the gender of Blanche?
Henrietta and Blanche follow us everywhere, today they are trying to help us clean out the garage and fix the bikes for summer. I still have no idea what kind of chicken Blanche is, Someone on here said she is a Porcelain D’Uclle hen. I dunno, maybe.
:hitI am so sorry your babies got hawk napped. I feel, your pain, I am usually out in the back acting like a giant crazy rooster because we have a red tail nest across the street. It’s a nightmare waiting to happen.
Thankyou for your response. That does indeed sound like an easier way to do it. I think that I am going to take the advice I got on her earlier, I can’t remember who, and got to a small chicken farm on butchering day and learn the process from someone who has done it for a while. This way I can...
Oh my gosh, I am so sorry that you are in this position. It’s so sad. Your experience sounds traumatic and I would have become a vegetarian too. What do you think you are going to do about your boys?
This is Henrietta and Blanche
:hugsThank you so much for your kindness and your input. I know that I may feel differently about it once I get over the shock of the whole thing, but right now I feel like a villain. I thought I had prepared everything just right, I didn’t. I decided on the cone...
It is safe to leave them in there overnight now, however if they are wet the. Bring them i side and get them dry and warm as soon as you can. Even people can die when they are wet and cold, it doesn’t take much.
Hi! Glad you joined, the people on here are incredible. They just helped me go through a really rough couple of days, it was like I had everyone on here by my side and holding my hand. I am sure you are going to have the same connection.
I laughed too, him and that cat were always up to something...then I had to process him like that and I was cussing my head off about it. It was seriously gross. I don’t know if I will ever by chicken from a store again. I am probably going to have to get my meat from local farms. I know it’s...
I will not, but my husband and our roommate are very eager for it. I know I sound like a baby, but doing that was way harder than I thought it would be and the stuff that happened while doing it is still playing on loop in my head.
