Chicken dying - what could be the cause? (Video included)

So this is her this morning - Her eyes look alert. I gave her water yesterday and today (she drank). Could it be wry neck or some disease perhaps? Or maybe some trauma? No mites on the roosts.

Chicken dying - what could be the cause? (Video included)

Thank You for the advice! I will try and give the less fatty food from now on. I have not dewormed my chickens ever - I give them whole pumpkins regularly. And have not observed any worms in their poop. The grown up feed has about 16% protein and the chick feed has about 19% protein. The feed...

That is true - I found her like this (this morning) and filmed her. Because there was nothing wrong with her yesterday or in the evening when i closed their house for the night.

Chicken dying - what could be the cause? (Video included)

I won't be able to tell that because I have 10 Speckled Sussex hens in total and can't really see whose laid and whose not.. no big changes in egg quantities. They all seem pretty heavy to me when I hold them so did not feel that she was abnormal weight wise but everything could be - I had one...

Chicken dying - what could be the cause? (Video included)

Hello! Can You please help identifying the problem my bird has? I noticed I was missing one hen after letting everyone out in the morning. I found my bird like this (please see video below) in the morning and set it out of on the ground for some fresh air. We have a big heat wave for some...

Eggshells from hatching - can they be given to hens as calcium supplement?

Thank You all! To be on the safe side - I baked those shells and put them in the compost :) They do seem very britle and I will better not risk it by giving them to my hens.

Eggshells from hatching - can they be given to hens as calcium supplement?

Thank You both! :) I have heated them in the oven and these shells seem to be a lot thinner than the non-hatched ones. Interesting :)

Eggshells from hatching - can they be given to hens as calcium supplement?

Hello everyone! After incubation and hatching a lot of dry and quite clean eggshells are left and I was wondering if I could use them the same way I use unincubated eggshells - by crushing them and heating them in the oven for 10-20 min at 200C and later giving those crushed shells to my hens...

Black Copper Maran 2 week old

A bit late for an update but if others are in a similar place where I was with sexing those little marans then maybe You'll find this useful - both of my Marans chicks were roosters. And both found new homes with a hen flock for each :)

    Accidentally breeding a sex-linked chicken?

Wow! Thank You for Your reply! I will look into all Your presented links. Thanks a lot :) I only have Speckled Sussex birds, no Light Sussex so I am guessing the SS that I purchased may not be as "clean" as I have hoped it would be :(

    Accidentally breeding a sex-linked chicken?

Hello everyone! I have a flock of Speckled Sussex chickens and have been hatching their offspring since this spring and I was wondering if it was possible to create a sex-linked offspring from them? I am somewhat familiar with how sex-lined chicks are achieved in hybrids but I do not know is...

Black Copper Maran 2 week old

Hello again! My first Black Copper Marans chick turned out to be a cockerel. I have had another one hatch and the chick is 2 weeks old now. I am posting its photo now and will post later, when I am sure what gender it is for comparison. At the moment its comb looks similar in size to the first...

Lavender Araucanas - 3 weeks - UK type - Chick sexing

Hello! I have 2 Lavender Araucana chicks. They are 3 weeks at the moment and I was wondering if it was possible to tell which is which (hopefully not two roosters). One has a more pronounced comb and its redder than the other's. P.S. I added a photo from the internet of how the grown-ups should...

Black Copper Maran 2 week old

Hello everyone and thank You for Your guesses and advice! I think that my Black Copper Marans chick is a rooster. Here is a photo of his comb at 3 weeks - I do not think that there is any chance of him being a hen :)
