    Buttercup comb?

I hatched this mutt from a dark copper marans egg about 4 weeks ago. He/she (?) is standard sized with feathered feet and what I think is a buttercup comb! Is it possible there is that much variety within one chicken?! I’m hoping she is a she and that buttercup combs just develop more quickly...

Newly hatched chick drags self, cannot stand

I have a brand new Serama baby who hatched about 36 hours ago. His middle toes looked crooked so I pulled him out of the incubator to take a closer look. He can stand briefly, but when he tries to move he can only drag himself along. His feet get bent up under him and he tries to flap his wings...

I was inspired by your review and just ordered one. Online reviews were positive, as well. Fingers crossed!

    “Sold out” bantam hatching eggs

Well, that’s very helpful information. We just moved here and I was unaware of that! We might need to come up with a different science fair project :(

    “Sold out” bantam hatching eggs

Hi! My daughter is looking to compare bantam to standard egg hatching time for her 7th grade science fair project. The problem is I can’t find any fertile bantam eggs for sale. All the major online hatcheries say they are sold out or out of season. Is this typical for this time of year? Any idea...

Is anyone else waiting for a chick order? CHICK PICS!!

Quote: My bantam babies are so incredibly small! And fragile! I am so nervous for them, much more than I was for the standard babies.

Is anyone else waiting for a chick order? CHICK PICS!!

Quote: Welcome!! Hope you enjoy your babies as much as the rest of us do! Please post pictures, as I think that you are the third person on this thread who ordered the bantam special. Of course, if you get more black cochins than me I will be jealous. Trade you for some OE

My coop in its new location with a covered run

It looks great! They should have lots of room. How many chickens will you keep in there? Also, is that 2x4 welded wire for the fence? That is what I have around my run, and the foster dogs (who were large dogs) figured out how to bend it up enough to slip inside. They then killed all of my...

    Coop Build

Awesome!!! I am going to steal the swing open front idea for my new coop!! I might also steal the idea of the door under the coop to access food and water. SMART. The longer I linger on this site the more ideas I get

The BANTAM ONLY poop/ dropping board: how big?

I have bantams (and know that you will LOVE them), but I don't know what a poop board is, so I can't help! Sorry!

    It's JUST A COOP!!!!

I agree. My coop is not pretty, but it works. Lately it hasn't been working that well, though, because I want more chickens and I need more room. I am on a budget (poor grad student that I am) but I want the new coop to at least be painted

Will 6 week old bantam chicks eat rocks that are too big for them?

1). I am not sure. I have never had one eat anything and choke, but that is just me. 2). Not sure again. My bantams easily fly over my 4 ft fence and don't seem to hurt themselves flying down. Also, some roost on top of the coop, which is about 5 ft high and they fly down with no problems. I...

I just got some in my bantam special from Ideal. They were only .99 cents, but I also got a ton of game hens that I don't really want.

Is anyone else waiting for a chick order? CHICK PICS!!

My Ideal $0.99 bantam specials. The mailman delivered my babies around 2:30 this afternoon. I kindly pointed out the phone number on the box "for future reference." I ordered 30 chicks and got 30 chicks. One was very lethargic and died pretty quickly, despite my best efforts. Two were...
