Here's one of my guineas' eggs. I know these came out of the guineas and not my easter eggers because I separated them into their own run (they were picking on my Ameraucana rooster). This is my first time raising guineas to adulthood, so I don't have much experience- usually I buy eggs, hatch...
Me either! That's why I really thought it was just one of my easter egger hens eggs. The guinea eggs are in the incubator currently, but I'll be sure to take a picture of them, along with the little keets that hatch out, so y'all can see their neat color.
I've got guineas who's parents were pearl/royal purple mix and coral blue. They've got lots of very pretty dark blue and purple feathers. My guineas also lay green colored eggs, and they've got tan colored speckles in them. I also have Ameraucana and Easter Eggers, so when my guineas first...
This is my first time keep guinea fowl from chicks that I hatched (I bought eggs) until adulthood. I've got a little group of what I suspect are hormonal pubertal guinea fowl. There are 12 that are nearly 4 months old and I've also got 12 that are about 2 months old. All living together, and out...
The bird has 4 toes (the middle toe was white feathered and the toe was yellowish tinted at hatching). I actually took a picture of the egg she hatched out of, held next to one of the guinea eggs from that batch- so here's a picture of it:
The bird is over 11 weeks old, has a single comb with virtually no development and absolutely no red color to it. I really want it to be a girl, so maybe if I keep hoping and calling it a “her”..... lol. I’ve had lots of silkie crossed with Ameraucana chicks, and the males have always made...
I bought some guinea hatching eggs and when I was putting the eggs in the incubator I noticed that one of the eggs, while the same color as the guinea eggs, was most definitely a different shape. 18 days later the most adorable tiny chick hatched out, and due to her size, we named her Micro...
I have both silkies and Ameraucanas, and there's no trouble with the silkie rooster mounting my Ameraucana hens. I have an incubator, so that's the method I've used to hatch out the adorable chicks. My silkie/Ameraucana cross babies, or "Silkicana" as I call them, are the best of both varieties...
Yes indeed, obvious to you and me, but perhaps not to a nervous customer who is new to raising chickens. I appreciate all the responses. You have likely helped assuage the anxieties of a customer who has a history of being duped by unscrupulous sellers who gave her a cockerel when she paid for a...
Thank you. I agree wholeheartedly; this bird is absolutely gorgeous. Her father is a blue wheaten Ameraucana, and he is running with a black Ameraucana hen, a wheaten, a blue wheaten and several blue hens- any one of which could be her mother. I'm getting such beautiful blues out of this cross-...
I know what gender the bird is without a doubt, but it would be very helpful for me to have independent confirmation from unbiased experts without me giving away in advance which gender I believe the bird to be. If that makes sense. Here's another picture from the side.
This young (4-5 month old) chicken in question was hatched from Ameraucana parents- all the varieties run together, and as a result the chicks' feather color patterns do not fit the standard and for our purposes here we'll refer to it as an Easter Egger.
Experts (no best guesses by newbies...
