    Dog thread!🐾

Oh absolutely, and I think the fact he was given up because he was 5 months old and not sold, as well as "straight haired" is a testament to that. I think a lot of people want the teddy bear look. It's funny, because his straight fur, mop-ish look was actually the thing I found very endearing...

    Dog thread!🐾

Hopping in late but hi! I currently have two pups-one adopted: a golden retriever/poodle mix ("goldendoodle") and a GSD. The doodle pup was given up to a rescue with the mom because I guess he was the last one, too old, less curly fur, so they couldn't sell him (fortunately for me though, as...

    Dog Breed suggestions??

I voted for an aussie due to your initial post; they're overall friendly, energetic, and train well. That said, after reading through the thread, you don't sound like a very experienced trainer (not meaning to offend though, very few people are experienced with working breeds let alone actual...

Blue splash Maran hen - central Indiana

Ah I never gave an update and I'm not sure how to edit my posts (if that's even possible), but Chickpea has found a new home with Adams Farmhouse. Thank you for the support, and special thanks to Adams Farmhouse for taking her in and nursing her back to the healthy and happy hen she should have...

Blue splash Maran hen - central Indiana

Thank you! Yeah I feel that way too even if she's in rough shape. I forgot to mention her name! Chickpea has always been one of my favorites. If I wasn't so attached to one of the girls who is picking on her, I would have rehomed the rest and kept Chickpea instead.

Blue splash Maran hen - central Indiana

I have a blue splash Maran, less than a year old, being severely picked on by my other girls. They were raised together, but our roo was a little rough on her the other day and managed to pluck some of her feathers. In the morning, she had pretty much all her feathers as normal. When I went to...

Chicken making a weird noise every time she breathes?

Thank you very much for your reply and well-wishes, I stayed with her for a bit this morning and I think you were right, since it did resolve shortly after. Noises stopped and she's perfectly normal again. :)

Chicken making a weird noise every time she breathes?

Hi! I'm not new to chickens, but I'm new to this behavior! My Wyandotte, Wendy, is making this odd sound, constantly, as she breathes. I can't tell if it's physical pain from some trauma or maybe sickness? It just started a few hours ago. I see no visible injuries, nor do I feel anything wrong...

Ended 12th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along—Cutest Baby Fowl Photo Contest—Win a Brinsea Incubator!

Here are my babies, Anna, Ariel, (and Belle's fluffy butt). They're the sweetest girls! :love

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

That's awesome and very helpful! Looks like I know my next project now... I'll have to look into some chicken tricks. I still have my clicker that I used for my border collie and my shepherd. Anna is a very smart girl, I have faith in her. I've only had a handful of chicks on her level, a past...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Oh my! Styx is so adorable. That's so cool you're teaching her that! I was proud of Anna for learning "Anna, up" when I want to hold her, but this is on another level. Question: Have you found it's easier to teach chicks? Anna is around 7 months old, she's very friendly and "eager" to do things...

Review by 'Kristee' on item 'Legbar'

To begin with, I hand raise all my chicks so they're typically all very tame and friendly. However, Belle, my legbar, is relatively timid, but is still gentle and overall pleasant. She was my slowest to lay, even though my other chicks were two weeks (or more) behind her. She started laying...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

So I'm not the most active here, but last year I posted asking if anyone had any Silkie and Polish hens as a surprise for my grandpa, since he really loves how they look (but had never had any). He used to raise chickens when he was younger, but cannot care for them on his own anymore. Basically...

Hi! I am a little late to this because I'm not very active, but I saw your post on the Indiana thread, and I want to say that I hope you're feeling better. It's been a few days and I didn't see an update, so I figured I'd drop some well-wishes here. :hugs

Looking for a way to cheer up my kiddo!

Aw I'm sorry that I don't have any eggs to help, but I do wish you and your son the best, and that healing will come easily and hopefully sooner than later. It definitely sounds rough, but I'm sure with your support and him hatching little chicken nuggets, he'll cheer up. :hugs

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Oh wow Faraday, such a beautiful (and adorable!) chicken! I'll definitely keep my eye open still, but today is his birthday so I felt like I should speed things up. The Cream Legbar will hopefully lay blue, and I also hope both the Olives are green or... Olive. :p I know it's never a guarantee...

    INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Just an update! I ended up not finding any Silkies or Polish, but I showed my grandpa some Cream Legbar and Olive Egger colors, and I found out he also loves the idea of colorful eggs. He might not think they look quite as pretty physically, but he's never had pretty eggs either. He's going to...

Anyone have young/laying Silkies and/or Polish? (Indiana)

Oops I didn't see this at first! I would rather get older Silkies just because he can't have roosters, and as far as I know, it's impossible to sex Silkies when they're young chicks. Unless you're talking about older birds, in which case that's super cool that it exists and I'll have to check it...

Anyone have young/laying Silkies and/or Polish? (Indiana)

AH I love them so much! If I were just looking for me, I totally would be tempted. Unfortunately he lives within city limits though, so no boys allowed. :( They are super adorable though, very beautiful. I'm sorry you have to rehome them!

Sex my 6 week old easter egger's, please?

AH. I knew you wrote it somewhere but I kept re-reading the post and not the title. My mistake! Lol.
