Absolutely and it is not fair to your hens to be terrified of your rooster. Both of mine can be aggressive at times with the girls but are great 99% of the time
It depends on how much space you have and how long it takes to dry up. I personally do 1-2 squares of paper towels folded up and soaked in water and squeeze out the excess. This should make the humidity stable for longer.
Yes, I've raised a chick by itself before when his sibling died shortly after hatching. I kept him in a brooder with a stuffed animal. However, if you can put the 1 week old chick in the same brooder as the 3 week old chicks and put a barrier up so they can see each other but not touch, it might...
Of course! I've had my fair share of mean and aggressive roosters over the years so I know the feeling of finally having a rooster that is nice to everyone. Again, it sucks and super hard to have to let go of good roosters but sometimes it has to be done. I hope you find a perfect new home for him
Good roosters can be hard to come by. You've made the right decision even if it might be hard to do. Rehoming him is the best option for every reason you've said. If your hens are terrified of him then rehoming is best. It is a hard decision but again, you are making the right one.
Hope everything goes well! I will say, I haven't hatched too many eggs however I've not been one to worry too much about the weight of the egg and I've had a good hatch rate. Aside from monitoring temperature and humidity, and candling them occasionally I just leave them. Obviously, if you think...
Sounds good. They already don't get treats often (once in a blue moon) but they do free range. Should I keep them in the coop once a week so they eat only their feed or is the free ranging 24/7 ok?
I don't have a good picture of them or their poop so I'll do that in the morning. I've not weighed them but according to the chart most are at a 2 with some at a 1 and others at a 3 although not many. I've got buff orpingtons, golden wyandottes, turkens, leghorns, New Hampshire, and an...
