Forgot to turn on automatic turner till day 7

I woke up in a panic. Realized I forgot to turn on the automatic egg turner when I set my turkey hatching eggs 7 days ago. How bad should I expect this to be?

    Rooster and a Guard Dog?

For anyone just reading this post, as it was posted a few years ago, I wanted to jump in with an actual reply that, like only a few others, deals directly with the original question. Your puppy will be a puppy for 2 years as a general rule for lgd's. They will be large and playful and may...

Is opening the incubator going to kill my quail?

In the end you were absolutely right. I re calibrated the thermostats and they were all off. The temp was too low.

Is opening the incubator going to kill my quail?

Update. Four chick's hatched. Two with only a little help, one all in its own and the last one with a lot of help. The last one is struggling. Took a full day to really start moving around and still hasn't eaten that I've seen. It can open its eyes but tends to keep them closed. It looks...

Is opening the incubator going to kill my quail?

Oh I agree. I meant I calibrated it with 2 different pre calibrated thermometer/hygrometer.

Is opening the incubator going to kill my quail?

I do have it calibrated. I ended up returning an incubator that killed an entire batch due to not maintaining temp and humidity. The one im using now is calibrated and I monitor it so it's doing fine.

Is opening the incubator going to kill my quail?

Thanks I'll give that a try. I did have the one peeping when I did the float test. It was the one that floated on its side.

Is opening the incubator going to kill my quail?

I am in day 20 since I set my quail eggs (tuxedo, Rosetta, and jumbo browns) in my incubator. Put them in lockdown on day 15. Decided to float test them since nothing had happened yet. The first egg floated on its side but it's cheeping. The rest mostly floated as viable eggs. The shell on the...

    Baby Chick having seizures?

last year we had a silver laced wyandotte chick that appeared healthy when we got her, but when she was a day or two old she suddenly started having seizures where she would flail about cheaping madly and loudly. It was scary and I was sure she was going to die. She got worse and worse, but...

    My turkeys are confusing me

The sort of gobble is a gobble, but, it's not very loud. I think only one does it, I never pay that much attention to which one, but, it happens when I am putting food out or surprise them because they weren't expecting me. My Bourbon Red hen that hatched these three from eggs I bought from a...

    My turkeys are confusing me

I have three turkeys, standard bronze, that are now seven months old. I watched them over the fall to see who might be a tom and who might be a hen, and thought I figured it out when they started displaying at the dog, and once at me when I was clipping one of their wings, but, now I'm not so...

    Utah!

Agreed. I only have standard breeds pretty much so, if you have a breed that specifies in it's standard that it is not cold weather hardy, you may need to take extra measures to keep them safe and healthy in colder weather. The opposite is true of the heavy breeds in the summer. I have to do...

Review by '' on item 'Salmon Favorelle'

Our two Salmon Faverolles have been a bit of a disappointment. They both have been broody several times this spring and summer, and for long stretches of time. When we got them last year from Ideal Poultry we were excited to have a social and friendly pair. They are really not very social...

Review by '' on item 'Australorp'

We absolutely adore our little Australorp. She is sweet and gentle and gets along with all of the birds in our flock. She is beautiful and a nice elegant bird. Every day she lays a nice medium size brown egg without much noise or announcement. She is otherwise very quiet and just spends her...

Review by '' on item 'Jersey Giant'

We have two Jersey Giants. Both hens, we got them together as chicks. They have always been so interesting, not just because they are bigger than our other chickens, but, because of the vocalizations they make that are often very un chicken like. They chortle, and warble, and coo like doves...

    Utah!

Our girls navigated last winter pretty well. In fact, chickens do better in the winter than they do in the summer, as they can huddle up with each other to share warmth and they can puff their feathers out to trap their own body heat. It works really well. As long as they have a dry place to...

Topic of the Week - Let's talk about euthanasia

I tried using gas to kill our tom turkey last year, after doing much research and believing I knew what I needed to do in order to make his passing as peaceful as possible. It was the most traumatic thing I have ever been part of, and I will never use that method ever again. He took a very long...
