    Relocating predators rant!

Legal or not...relocating a chicken predator is just relocating a problem for someone else to deal with. I wish more BYCers didn't think they were doing the planet a favor by relocating coons, snakes, etc.

    Snake season

Good job!! Some people here seem to think snakes should be ignored or relocated. Even the non poisonous ones eat eggs AND baby chicks. I have killed one bull snake and 2 rattle snakes this summer, all too close to the coop. If you want to keep chickens, it is your responsibility to...

Spin off: What's the LEAST you've spent on a chicken? :)

I stopped in the Mercantile in Brighton, Co this morning. I wasn't looking to buy chickens, but took a peek, and saw 7 four week old chicks on clearance for $1 each. Four are st. run Seabrights, and three are Delaware pullets! I rushed them home, and built a new brooder, as I have 25...

    Outdoor run question

It depends a lot on where you live. Do you have predators? I have netting to protect the chickens from hawks, owls, raccoons, and coyotes. Hope that helps!
