Last year I got Rhode Island reds and accidentally got an ISA brown. Is there a way to distinguish the eggs so I don't hatch out a Rhode island red x isa brown? I noticed two egg colors, any clue if one might be isa brown and the other Rhode island red?
How much money do you sell whole processed ducks for per lb? They're free range. I'd like to start raising some to sell for a little bit of side money.
The third day of Christmas went well. But after that things just went downhill. Poor guy...lost his true love. 😂

At what temperature do you think it shifts? I live in South Carolina so it doesn't exactly get brutally cold. But it does hit freezing at night and usually above freezing during the day time.
I'm trying to make plans for hatching some Cayuga and silver appleyard duck eggs this spring. I'm getting ready to separate the breeds into separate pens so I don't have a bunch of hybrids. I'm wondering if it matters how early I collect the hatching eggs. Does the temperature or season affect...
I'm processing some ducks and didn't do the waxing method like I had in the past. Is it true that I can take a blow torch to the skin and it will burn all the tiny pin feathers. My birds have a lot of small tiny feather under the skin only slightly poking out.
The local feed and farm stores nearby are lousy. And I noticed feed price at the stores are going up. There's a place that has feed with good quality ingredients with 16.5% protein but I need something with around 20%. A 50lb bags cost $20 any idea what I could add to boost it and how to...
I just noticed an issue with my young Muscovies plucking each other's wings. They'll reach out and grab another birds wing and yank the feathers out in the process. A few were bleeding. 😬.
What should I do about this and why are they doing this. I've never had this issue before?
Yup, I was so happy when I saw the post for 20 free Muscovies. It happened not long after I had a snake kill my broody Muscovy hen and I lost several of the eggs. It really made up for the loss. I've always been surprised at how feather color can change so much when they molt. Silver appleyard...
I have three silver appleyard drakes and I'm trying to pick which ones I'm going to sell or cull. I've noticed that each one has a different amount of brown on its back. One of them is all silver on its back, one is partially brown and partially silver, and one has a complete brown pattern on...
I was given 20 free Muscovies a few weeks ago and didn't know that barred and rippled Muscovies existed until this year. I always had the black and white pied color. It turns out that 5 of the new ones are either barred or rippled, but I'm not exactly sure about the difference. I haven't...
Those are nice looking eggs. The top one looks like it's a a light tan color, I haven't seen that before.
I noticed that one breed can produce different colored eggs. I would love to try to select for color and stabilize it in some of the breeds I have. Like maybe get a breed that always...
