If you process your own turkeys, what do you use to scald them in? I usually skin or occasionally dry pluck, but my friend wants to scald her big chickens. Any suggestions?

My hen ate a good breakfast and supervised water refill. I don't know what was wrong but she seems fine now. No snakes yet and no turkey hunt last night. Things are looking up!

Well, later that day, the hen looked better and ate a little scratch. This morning she ate breakfast and supervised the water refill. I might have jumped the gun, although she certainly wasn't feeling good. I still wonder if that snake could have bit her. It was non venomous, but I'd be a bit...

It's a fun game, isn't it? Unfortunately, I walked the entire pasture this time. Those weeds are like loofahs. My arms and legs are totally exfoliated. I guess that'll make it easier for the chiggers to eat me alive. Since I don't live there, I can't watch what they're doing. I hope we don't...

My internet has been out for a couple weeks and won't be fixed until next week, so I'm way behind. But I have a problem and wanted to ask advice. I have a 1 year old turkey hen who lays tiny eggs. The other day she laid a super long egg that was a double yolker. She laid 1 or 2 more and then...

I played a neat game tonight. Find the hen. I searched for about 30-40 minutes before my friend came and helped. About 30 minutes later, I found her at the back of the pasture. Debbie had already looked there a few minutes before. She was really tucked in. I haven't brought the tom over, so eggs...

Thank you. I had no idea that was there. I think I messed with it enough, it got confused and is working now. I hope to get my internet back this week or next.

My internet has been out for over a week. I'm at a friend's, borrowing her's. Can anyone tell me how to re-set my subscriptions? BYC doesn't send any emails anymore. Every time I go in to try to change it, it says site only. I can't seem to get it to switch to daily emails again.

Sorry to hear that. I had several babies do that one year. I finally stopped using shelf liner in the brooder and haven't had one since (knock on wood). I tried splinting, but it never worked.

My friend's neighbor has a young LGD that has started coming over when we are out feeding in the evening. Tonight, he met the turkey hens. Really good thing there was a gate between them. I thought those hens were going to take me out getting to him. They were all fluffed up and screeching...

Ok, I need some advise. I have a hen that hatched babies on May 5. She was one of 3 hens and the other 2 didn't like her, so they've been chasing her off. But all 3 hens have raised the (now) 18 babies. But she apparently didn't have the mother experience she was looking for, because she...

Thankfully, these bees seem pretty mellow-for bees. I only saw one tonight, so I think he got them all this time. Now to put the coop together again. One wall was torn down (he did tack it back up), one was cut open with a chain saw and the roosts were torn down. It's so miserably hot and...
