25 week old pullets still not laying

Three out of four of my speckled Sussex pullets still show no sign of laying eggs. The one that is laying has been doing so for 2-3 weeks now. I know shorter days are starting but I'm also in NC so we've had no cold weather at this point. Is this just normal for this breed? I also purchased a...

Three Golden Laced Wyandottes - all female?

Also, donrae -- why would it have a straight comb instead of a rose comb if it is a female?

Three Golden Laced Wyandottes - all female?

thanks iwiw, but I only have one chicken in question (the one with the slightly red and larger comb). There are two pictures of "her" listed and only one picture with one of the other chickens in it for reference.....

Three Golden Laced Wyandottes - all female?

I purchased day old chicks from a local feed supply store and was told they were all pullets, but one of my "girls" I'm just not so sure about. They were 7 weeks old yesterday (07/02/14) and one of my "girls" already has a very different comb and wattles than the other two. Any help would be...

    Hens stopped laying...

Everything is back to normal here. It's like two of them just to a week long break from laying, but I heard from fellow chicken owners that does happen from time to time.

    Hens stopped laying...

No ... not seeing any feathers around (maybe one or two here and there) and I doubt very seriously it is a snake. I live in a neighborhood, and their coop is inside a 10 x 10 run, which is also enclosed in a fenced yard and I have two dogs that go outside intermittently. Plus, I check on them...

    Hens stopped laying...

I'll give the particulars first - I have three Golden Comet hens that I have had for about 6-7 weeks now. Their age is roughly around 26-27 weeks. They started laying about 3-4 weeks after I got them. I live in NC and we have had some SUPER hot weather this summer. That being said, I put two...

    Very hot weather forecasted!

How do you use the Pedialyte? Do you give it to them straight or is there a mix. Is it very expensive. I bought a bottle of powdered solution that you mix with water at Tractor Supply for about $4. You mix one scoop for every gallon of water. I only have three birds, so this will go pretty...

    Very hot weather forecasted!

It is just a regular box fan. I forgot to mention that I did mist them with my hose also. My hoze nozzle has a " mist" feature. They are not too sure about it, but seem to like it the hotter it gets outside.

    Very hot weather forecasted!

I live in North Carolina and the next few days (after today) are forecasted to be 100+ degrees. I am nervous about how my new ladies are going to take to it. We had some hot weather last week (88-92 degrees) and they started showing some stress signs (panting, wings open, lying in dust a lot)...

    Underweight or not?

    Underweight or not?

I just got my three ladies last Saturday from a local hatchery. They are around 18 weeks. This is my first experience owning chickens and I feel like I need some advice. I want to know if my chickens look like they weigh a decent weight? They look healthy to me and are eating their food, and...
