I am also new to this. How late are your chicks? If the egg has piped I would help it out after a full day or so if the baby is getting weak to the point you worry it will die. As for an egg that has not piped. I do not know. I have no recommendations for that. There is a chance the baby chick...
I had to help a few of them in the end because of a similar problem. I personally think that if its been long enough that they are going to die, then just help them out. But that's up to you, other people will say that it is the survival of the fittest. I personally care to much for life to...
I recently had 24 Rode Island red eggs that I hatched. Out of the 24 only 20 where fertile. I had eggs hatch up all the way until 4 days after the hatch day. Some pipped and hatch on the last day .It was my first time incubating, but I got 14 out of 20, so I think I did okay. :) I had some...
LOL. That sounds entertaining, and healthy for the bird as well.
One of the interesting toys I have heard of is someone putting those little tiny cat balls that are hallow with the bell inside in with their baby chicks. They would take and toss it around. :)
I built a brooder that had a divider. I put Rode Island Reds that I hatched myself on one side and then chicks that I received from a hatchery that where almost two weeks different on the other side. There wasn't to much difference. I took the divider out once I was sure all the hatchery chicks...
I wasn't sure what thread this would go under, so I went with this one. :) I have heard of people giving their chicks and or chickens toys to keep them busy. What do you give them? I am interested in hearing what people come up with.
It is day 22..and two of my eggs are chirping. Have been since 8 this morning. I know not to open and let out the humidity and everything. I am just wondering how long until they hatch after they started chirping in the egg, and when should I become worried? The eggs have been rolling and...
OMG, this is an amazing incubator I think. What a wounderful Idea. I absolutly love it. When I get the time to build one, I am defently going to try one simular to this. Thank you for sharing!
This is my first hatch also! They are due anytime now. :) My husband and I built this brooder together. It is 4x4 with a removable divider. We wanted to make sure it could hold as little or as much little chicks as we may want now or in the future. Both sides of the roof open.
