most my hens are a year old or older..how do i get one to go broody so i get new chicks thisyear? my wifes started just leaving 12 eggs in one box they seem to be sharing sitting on over the last few days.will one of them kinda take control and set on the all the time?

the neighbors dog got another one of my chickens today...thats 3 this summer for it...i think it's got a beef with the new hampshire reds.....thats the only ones it's seemed to kill so far and i have like 6 different breeds.wifes bumming cuz those are the ones we raised up from peeps
i was reading on breeding and came accross this mix.was wondering if anyone has done it?and what the hens look like from a mix like this?and what kind of temperment does the birds have?last but not least did it really improve the egg production?

i have 2 roos both are newhamshire reds ....i have 6 red hens and 3 EE's and 5 buffs ....these roos only hit the reds and the buffs ...why not the EE's.....they are all about the same age
finally got my first egg at 17 weeks ....she layed it in the run and one the other chickens stepped on it and poked a hole in it...i saved it to show the wife when she gets home.now the fun beggins i have 9 more hens i'm waiting to start laying
you sure can tell the differance in the chicks i raised compaired to the ones i bought ....just petting them the feathers feel alot different ...softer and oilier
i just bought 4 more at the local poultry auction ..sure hope they all hens...i know 1 is for sure cuz it's a huge hen the others are about the same age as the ones i been raising
