    Watching Neighbor's Chickens

I'm watching my neighbors 4 chicken flock and the lowest on the totem pole is looking kind of rough. Her nail was bleeding, I put qwik stop on it but I'm a little concerned about her leg scabs and if her head is healing OK. She was pecked pretty bad by the other girls before her parents went on...

    Fowl Pox

I came back from a 2 week holiday to one of my ladies looking like this. I think it's fowl pox but I wanted to get second opinions. A few others inthr flock have these spots but not as bad. Everyone is eating and is active, the only change is this one is molting and another lady is molting so...

    Laying Yolks

Hello all, my flock of 5 has decided yet again to test what little chicken knowledge I have gained by laying only yolks. We've had shell-less eggs before, but this is the first time I've seen them lay yolks without shells. It happened yesterday and this morning (see below photo). When I search...

    4.4 Earthquake Last Night

We had a 4.4 earthquake around 8:00 p.m. yesterday; the ladies were not happy: The clip starts right when the earthquake starts. It wasn't one of the biggest, but it was the strongest jolt I've felt in a while.

    Screaming Delaware

I have a small flock of five, 9 month old hens: two Reds, two Barred Rocks, and one Delaware. They have a sizable coop and run, and every day (except Monday mornings, because of landscaping), they are let out into the big backyard to eat grass, chase bugs and squirrels and peck at the random...

    Fowl Pox or Mean Siblings?

We noticed some black on Stephanie's comb today. I think it might be her flock mates picking on her, but I wanted to know your opinions. She seems to be eating and laying normally. Thank you in advance :)

    Long Shellless Egg(s)? Photos

One of my 5 girls laid this monstrosity sometime in the past few days. :sick I think it was the Delaware, she is almost 6 months old and has been showing nesting signs, but hasn't produced an egg. A few days ago she was breathing abnormally, (faster than normal) I tried to put her in the...

Fluffzo (Barred Rock) Lays Egg on Camera

I thought this was kinda neat. Our Barred Rock named Fluffzo laid an egg on camera yesterday. Short Video - it's the bottom right camera. We stream our chickens so we can keep an eye on them while we work. It's relaxing on a stressful day to watch them poke around.

    She's a loud one

I hope this is allowed. I wanted to complain about how my Delaware is one loud girl. She has taken to screaming nonstop when we go out in the yard. To my untrained ear it sounds aggressive, but I don't think it is. Anyway. Here's a photo of the little banshee.

First Egg from chick that almost died when young

Like the title says we got our first egg from one of our Rhode Island Reds, Stephanie (she is in my profile picture). She had pasty butt when we got her and almost died due to inexperience on my part. I named her Stephanie after the owner of the YouTube video that helped me keep her alive...

    Growling Chickens

Our chickens are 18 weeks old and we've noticed the past few weeks they growl when they see us, or anytime we are around. I don't feel like they're being aggressive, but I was wondering if anyone could help me decipher the growls. I took a video today. I checked their feed and Stephanie came in...

    Address on Chickens?

Hi all! I'm having trouble finding an answer to this on the web; I hope you can help. Our chickens have started roosting in our avocado tree, Avocado Birds, and I started wondering if they're going to hop into the neighbor's yard or into the alley and take off. Is there a way to put our...

Wheel of Fortune - Chicken Related

My husband was on Wheel of Fortune he talked about our flock to Pat; Pat is apparently scared of chickens, so he made a joke about how delicious chickens were. When my husband won the bonus round he said this:

    Chickens Making Noise For Bed

Hello! I haven't found a good answer to this while Googling so I thought I'd reach out to the amazing community for an answer. My chicks (9 weeks old) are outside in their coop and have been for over two weeks. They love it in the run and love going into the coop for food and water. I've...

    Hen or Roo

Hi all! This is the last post I'll do of Bessie. they are about 8 weeks old. I'm 99.9% sure she's a he, but I want some second opinions. I found someone near me that donates birds to 4H. He's willing to take him. Bestie is the red one on the right Bestie is on the left in this one.

    6 Weeks Pullet or Cockrel?

I'm back to ask if you all think Bestie is a cockrel or a pullet. Here is a video of Bestie and our other Rhode Island Red that are supposedly that same age: Bestie is the Rhode Island Red with the big comb...ahh I hope she's a she. Thanks in advance!

Male or Female Rhode Island Red

Hi all, I'm a bit concerned one of my Rhode Island Reds might be a male. 😢 The reason I think that is because it's tail is almost nonexistent, I also feel like it's feet are larger, but that's probably just in my head. They are 4 weeks as of this past Saturday. Below find all the photos...

    Chick Stick

Hi all! I impulse bought a Chick stick from Manna Pro and I can't seem to find a straight answer on if I need to give my chicks grit with it. My chicks are about 3 weeks old. Any recomendations? Should I just hold off until they're older? Thanks!! 😀

6 chicks - New Residental Owner

Hello! I was directed to this amazing wealth of knowledge by Google and some helpful Reddit users at https://www.reddit.com/r/BackYardChickens/. This is my second post on the forum, unfortunately I was having issues with one of our chicks, but she seems to be doing much better now. I am new to...
