I have 3 chickens that get this on their bum and I try cleaning /soaking off with elector psp and towels. I can't get it completely off does anyone know what this is and how to get it off?
Thanks in advance.
I have 2 2 yr olds I added a couple 1 yr olds and I had to put a divider on the roost. Now I am going to add 3 more layers. I have bar to roost in the run also I was thinking of letting some out in the run over night not sure if that is a good idea or not. Or just putting them all in the coop?
Moving them to a new place a farm that already has chickens and a large coop that is sectioned in half for new chicks. My friend offered to keep them for me in the winter when I go south. I will bring my feeder and heated waterer. Not quite the set up I have but I'm sure they will survive...
I have decided to insulate my coop. I have a little tack room that Im not going to insulate. I do have vented ceiling and all around the roof so there will be plenty of ventilation.
I am curious how they will all share I have to two boxes built in and a little cardboard box on the ground with 7 girls. I only have two girls laying now. So far none of the other chickens have bothered the eggs that were laid. I am curious/anxious to see how it will work.
I usually use a fan pulling air out of the coup and crack the windows or on hot day full open. I am wondering we are getting down in the possible 30's this week if I should continue opening the windows ( I open them in the morning and close them at night ) or leave them closed? I do have...
Yeah!!!! So 21 weeks and a day old, 2 weeks after my first girl laid. So these are my 2 barred rock ladies. I watched her today it was her first time laying and she was stressed. Hopefully she'll have an easier time for egg#2.
I have changed back to a smaller feeder and I'm going to monitor how much they eat everyday by counting the scoops. Yesterday I put in 7 scoops and it didn't move down hardly at all. I do let them free range a couple of hours a day. Maybe I'm just thinking they should eat more than they do...
I am wondering if there is a disadvantage to using nipples instead of the cups. I had one of each and they only used the cups. I just switched to nipples basically it seems cleaner. I am just hoping it doesn't make them aggressive.
I heard they should come out clean and they did. Is it necessary to wash them. I thought I would wash just before I cook them. Someone said "you don't want that bacteria in your fridge ". Not sure I agree with that.
I bought and OverEZ feeder from tractor supply and it is great but it holds too much food and I believe it is going stale. I don't even fill it half way, but I think the girls like it fuller. Flies must be getting in because each morning if I open the top lid there are white worms which I think...
