Does anyone know if Red Shouldered Yokohamas are mottled or spangled or both? I want to know as I'd like to create a mottled Phoenix, and if Yokos have the mottling gene then it would likely be my best bet to perform an outcross.
Also, what is underneath (genetically speaking) white Yokohamas...
I'm looking for people with experience crossing Modern Game Bantams to other breeds, specifically how dominant (or recessive) the long leg genes seem to be, and what it looks like in a heterozygous vs homozygous form; and I'd love to see some pictures for comparison!
The reason I ask is...
Hey ya'll!
So I know that this is a very niche subject, but I have a line of silver ginger Phoenix that have the David Roger's line bred into them. I want to make sure I properly select for non-molting characteristics in these birds, so I'm looking for some advice from people who actually breed...
I had a chick hatch out about 2 weeks ago, and at first I thought it would be solid blue, but as it's wing feathers started coming in, some of them are white or have white tips. Here is some pictures of what I'm talking about -
Anyways, I was told that the line of birds the chick hatched from...
I've had this incubator for about the past 2 years and it has worked fine until now. For whatever reason, on the control panel it says that the humidity is at 0%, when I know for a fact it isn't, and it keeps setting off the humidity alarm as a result (I'm pretty sure 0% humidity is impossible...
Does linebreeding work to maintain a line if all the birds within the line were related to begin with? Or does this only work if the two original founding birds were from different lines and not related?
I have a group of Phoenix bantams, and the original pedigree is as follows - the original...
I'm considering on getting some CY Hyde Phoenix's. Does anyone have any birds from this line? I've read that his line has a higher than average percentage of Onagadori blood, which results in longer tails in his birds. I'd love to see some pictures of both standard sized birds and bantams if...
Hello everyone!
So I've done research on lavender coloring, and apparently it is linked to bad feather quality (specifically in the tail and wing regions) in birds that have this coloration. But I've also read in a few places that the linkage can be broken, but that it just takes the breeding...
Hey ya'll!
I'm looking to buy a Kentucky Specks rooster or cockerel for a breeding project I'm going to do. Preferably one with a lot of mottling. I would need him shipped to me or local pickup in the Phoenix, AZ area. Please let me know if you have one available and how much you want for him...
Hi all!
I was wondering if there is any difference between mottled, pied, and exchequer coloring. Are they genetically the same and just different expressions of the same gene? Or is each color a different gene? And how can you tell if a chicken is mottled, pied, or exchequer?
Pictures...
Hi Everyone!
I'm giving away (hint: he's free with the cost of shipping if you're not local) a golden duckwing bantam phoenix cockerel hatched out this past spring. He is about 9 months old as of now and is well tempered with people and other chickens/roosters. I hatched him from eggs bought on...
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if June is too late to ship adult chickens. It would be only 1 bantam rooster in a box. I live in Phoenix, AZ (I know it's already hot here), but I was curious if anyone has any experience with shipping birds this late in the year. The rooster would be going to...
Hello everyone,
I have a serama cockerel for sale, and he can also be bought with up to 2 hens. He is about 10 months old, and the two hens are about 2 and a half years old. The rooster carries the chocolate gene as well. Asking $130 for the trio, or $50 for the rooster. This is an excellent...
Hi,
I'm having a difficult time locating and obtaining any Yokohamas. It seems that only a handful of people seem to have any, much less a full fledged breeding flock, and I'm fairly certain that those who do have some are not very active in selling them or making their presence known through...
