I have just received word that Farm Sanctuary's 2 California locations (Orland and Acton) are in need of people to fill internship positions for the month of February. I remember seeing posts from a couple of members here who had volunteered at FS in the past and I wondered if any of them were...
Just looking at the CNN webpage. Total destruction of a large part of the town. Do we have any members from there? Hoping everyone stays safe as it looks to be another stormy day there.
Working for a wildlife rehab centre allows me the distinct pleasure of working with some amazing birds. Primarily my job is raising the hundreds of ducklings that are admitted but sometimes my job involves the raptors. This handsome fellow is Joe the Barn Owl. He is a captive bred bird who we...
It seems a big storm rolled thru your area recently and took down numerous Great Blue Heron nests, killing a number of adults and babies. Carolina Waterfowl Rescue http://www.carolinawaterfowlrescue.com/ has been overwhelmed with admissions from this storm and is appealing for volunteers to...

How is it that this Canadian, who has lived a grand total of 2 years in the USA, can sing the national anthem flawlessly while Christina Aguilera botches the job and has had a lifetime to prepare?
Anyone in the Truro area have room for a very friendly Rouen drake? Cobequid Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre has had one admitted and needs a home. Poor guy was found wandering all alone in your last storm. Their phone number is 902-893-0253.
For those of you with snow, when it comes time to clean out the coop simply spread a tarp at the door draped over the sill and shovel. The tarp can then be used as a very lightweight toboggan to take the shavings wherever you choose. Wheelbarrows are useless here.
I would just like to announce that the cookies in the BYC cookbook as submitted by Stacy are the best EVER. Make them all the time and have thrown out all my other Oatmeal Cookie recipes. For a chewy, tasty cookie....there isn't anything better in my opinion.
My daughter is going to be an intern at the Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen for 2 months and I am trying to figure out which airport would be the best one for me to use. There is a straight shot from Toronto to Rochester but it means that I would have to find ground transportation (1.5 hours...
Thanks to this forum and the good people on it, I was able to find a home for a duck and 2 chickens located 1400 miles from my home. The birds had been brought in to a wildlife rehab place that my daughter was interning at in Sanibel Florida and as they were domestic critters, could not be...
I was quite certain that I was following a post re: someone asking questions about some ducklings that he and his friend had found while "mudding" (whatever the heck that is)....but I can't find it now.
A duckling ( Pekin perhaps) and a chick (Barnvelder) have been brought in to a wildlife rehab centre in Sanibel Florida. (C.R.O.W.) My daughter is doing a 6 week internship there. These birds are NOT in Canada. The staff are willing to negotiate a closer drop off point if anyone is interested...
Received at C.R.O.W. Sanibel Florida (wildlife rehab centre) a Barnvelder (we think) chick and a Pekin (again, just speculating) duckling. Free . And needing homes. Just going by my daughter's info and assessment.....she is interning there for 6 weeks. Anyone??? A meeting place closer...
